sbardin
A friend asked me to post this for him.Quite a rare car.It is LHD.German origin and shipped early in its life to Africa. Found in Senegal (Africa ) a few yrs ago by a French Military Officer. When the car was shipped there I do not know. That owner had work done while he was stationed there and brought it to France when his tour ended. The engine (24 stud)was rebuilt there and runs good.Body and paint was done a couple yrs ago in France.A new Mallory style electronic ign, coil and new plugs and wires were installed.Carb is a rebuilt Stromberg 97.Still has the orig mechanical brakes. These are all the pics I have for the moment.Grille looks more like a '37.I just saw a copy of the title It says first registered in 1938 also noted is V8 68.It does run and drive and licensed and registered in France.Lots of play in the steering and pops out of 2nd. Restoration needs to be redone or finished.Restored correctly it would be outstanding. All the special parts appear to be there. It was never a rust bucket. It is in France near Orange.Shipping not a problem. It was taken in on a trade deal and he is wanting to move it down the road.Make an offer.Realistic Value? 10,15,20,25K ? Bloo
It does not really resemble an American Ford ahead of the cowl, either. This article offers a little insight on what may have been in production in Europe at the time. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/article/historically-rich-1938-ford/ Edited March 6, 2020 by Bloo (see edit history)

ericmac
I feel like this is a very accurate portrayal of the car. It would be a most interesting car in many respects. I like it.

John_Mereness
There are a good 100 photos of this Ford as a new car out on the internet on Alamy - use term "vintage automobile" and they show up from around pages 100 to 120. Term " Anika Winter " gets some of the photos Term " Eine Reise nach Kitzingen " gets some more And plenty more under various other terms There are some differences in the belt molding (which may be applied verses formed into sheet metal of car) and in the fender skirts, plus perhaps belt line on body on forward side of rear fender and maybe even the landau iron , though doubt they made many and suspect the car for sale to have had a hard life requiring much additional investigation if same car or not same car ? . TG57Roadmaster
It's a great Ford custom, perhaps Matford or Ford Eifel, but I question the Alexis Kellner build... Given the crispness at the cowl, the square up frame at top and the beltline beading, I don't think it's this one, either. With the exception of the grille, the resemblance to this '37 Ford by Deutsch is much closer. The tapering of the rear, trunk shape, and beltline treatment lead me to Deutsch... https://www.coachbuild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=264&t=1975&start=40 It will be a wonderful project for the right person who wants a coachbuilt Ford! TG57Roadmaster
Another by Deutsch of Cologne, very similar to the Alamy car, also I would suggest Deutsch but just enough different... The trafficators in the windshield frame, its rounded top (rather than squared off) slightly different beltline beading with pointed molding lead me to believe these are two examples of similar Deutsch coachwork on the Ford V-8 chassis.
