Busflyer
This photo was taken of my Grandfather in 1916. Was hoping someone on this forum could ID the car for me.

studeboy
1909 EMF's had rear fenders that went straight out like that. Could this be a speedster made from parts???
1912Staver
It looks like a full eliptic rear spring, Marion bobcat ? Greg in Canada
drwatson
I think Greg got it. Here's a 1910 Marion with a lot of like detail: Edited December 21, 2019 by drwatson (see edit history)
dustycrusty
I agree, a 1910 Marion Bobcat. Notice the up-swept rear frame behind the seat, flare at the bottom of the fender, frame rivet location in relation to the body cowl up-sweep to the firewall and the identical gear/brake lever location and type Good Job all! dustycrusty
I would guess that that is where the inner vertical splash panel of the fender attaches?
keiser31
They may have had a canvas inner fender riveted to the fender edge.
Busflyer
Thanks for the info everyone. Was always curious about that car.
Guest
The car pictured with all the men sitting/standing around it appears to have a folding soft top. Would this have attached to the rear of the seat frame and then (without a windshield) just hung loose at the front when raised in place? dustycrusty
It probably had leather straps running from the front top bow down to the front of the car , attaching to a handy spot like the headlight brackets to give the top some rigidity
