56 Buick grounding strap?

Hi all

 

The 56 has the cable running from the negative battery terminal to the engine block but I cannot see any ground strap or similar from the engine to the frame or body. Should there be such a thing? 

 

Does anyone have an answer or have a view.

Hi Drew,

 

No first hand experience, but I would put one from the block to the body at a minimum. One from the block to the frame would not hurt either.

My '54 has a short flat braided ground strap from the back of the passenger side head to one of the screws that holds the air box on the firewall.

My '56 as well has a similar strap. Hard to see, and something that someone might not put back if they took it off.

Are you having electrical troubles with it?

Thanks all. No specific problems Keith. I was assessing the ground cable within the distrbutor and then just had one of those 'thinking' moments and looked for other ground straps but didn't see any.

I actually found the strap at the rear passenger side going to the firewall although it is well hidden! Thanks
