M&M
Was wondering if there is a difference is in high compression gasket and the low compression thickness on the two. They say they have was just wondering if there was a difference.
Matt Harwood
The difference in compression that you'll get between a "normal" gasket and a "high compression" gasket will be so minimal that you won't even notice it from behind the wheel. A good, reliable seal is what you want; horsepower is all academic in pre-war cars. The thinner gasket might not seal as well if your block and head aren't perfectly flat. M&M
Actually was wondering if you know of a parts source I have a water jacket cover that’s rusted with holes. Wondering if you know of a good parts source thanks Matt
DonMicheletti
My '31 had a thin piece of brass under the slightly rusted out water jacket cover. You could do that as a last resort.
Steves Buick
Hi Matt, I was in the same dilema with my 96s, of course more HP is better right? Well maybe not.. the difference will be hardly noticed, the car drives fine with the standard gasket.. I would not pull the head to put on the HC gasket. But you can still put the sticker on your valve cover ;). Steve
