jord
I cannot install my new headlight bulbs, keep breaking the bulb. Is there a retro socket without the three pins that I can use, or what am I doing wrong.Without the reflector it goes on. Thanks
Ken/Alabama
Examine your sockets really good. The socket well has a spring inside that keeps the contacts against the bulb . Make sure that it's moves . Should be able to check by pulling on the wires. Make sure the three pins aren't froze up either.
jord
Thanks Ken, yup cleaned and lubricated the socket, tried for two day's, still cannot get it to turn. I even sanded the lead base of bulb to reduce friction. Will try one more day then get a new one, shame as this one looks ok. Wiring is close to completion, engine runs so all is fine for now. Will order a brake light switch and carb kit, my emergency brake cable has been ordered.
19tom40
You can try a thin coat of Vaseline on the base of the bulb and on the socket. If the bulb base is hitting on the reflector, you can adjust the diameter of the bulb base.
Mssr. Bwatoe
It appears to me that the little brass guide pins are tweaked, bent...bend only minimally, it should be possible---35-39 ford lincoln https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS-2337
38ShortopConv.
Those guide pins appear to be spring loaded, the original holder pins could seize up, may need some more C.R.C. lube in there. I have broken a few lamps in my time on those. Looks like there could be a new replacement lamp holder available in Mssr. Bwatoe"s picture. jord
Yes , I have ordered the new ones from Ron Francis and will install them. Got one to work but it's not worth the aggravation. Thanks; Mssr. Bwatoe
