Steve Hagy
Hi! Well, if my research on the internet is correct this is a 1958 Mercury. Where I have failed is in trying to decide what model this is. Help me out here gang! Thanks, Steve Obviously, Covington liked Mercurys. I wish fire departments would purchase cars this nice these days!
dictator27
Not a Mercury expert, but believe it is a 1953 Custom.

Bleach
It's a certainly a Custom. A Monterey would have had a "Monterey" nameplate and an additional badge next to the name on the fender above the spear just after the wheel well. What's a little odd is the missing Mercury nameplate above the rear wheel.
m-mman
The Custom series name is kind of redundant. It is a two-door sedan, Merc's cheapest offering. Mercury did not offer a Monterey two-door sedan...

D Yaros
The building in the background looks the same as the one in the 1958 Mercury shot; Covington, KY.
Steve Hagy
Yep, same building which is the former Covington headquarters station at 6th & Washington Sts. A replacement station was built a few blocks away which opened in 1976. I was in the old station a number of times, which means I'm getting old! My thanks to everyone who took the time to look at this post and answer my question.
