Guest Richard Gallatin
A category for Luxury Muscle Cars? Hagerty and Fox News think so and include the Avanti Avanti Luxury Muscle Car page added to www.theavanti.net Edited September 16, 2016 by Richard Gallatin (see edit history)
john2dameron
My humble opinion is Fox needs to forget about trying to rate automobiles and stick to reporting the news.
joe_padavano
And here I thought the Hurst/Olds (not even on the list) was one of the first luxury musclecars.
John_S_in_Penna
And I thought that the Mercer Raceabout and Stutz Bearcat were among the first luxury muscle cars. People always look at things from their own limited perspective, forgetting history. If only some real old-timers were around to tell us more! 60FlatTop
Maybe it is just a ploy to get hits on the Avanti site. Short cryptic posts all leading to the same place look more like a marketing class homework project. I might buy one someday but not because it's like an XKE or any sort of muscle car. Fox news and Hagerty? Now, there's a pair of chartreuse journalists.
padgett
Chrysler 300 letter cars definitely were the first Not sure why they picked the 70 GP (had one with 4 speed)) and not the 63 but really blew it with 67 Riv and not the dual quad 65 GS. Of course their news tends to be a bit biased also. Edited September 15, 2016 by padgett (see edit history)
Guest GT52
Clearly the term "muscle car" has been so diluted that anything built in the 60s that isn't a four door with a six cylinder and powerglide now seems to fill the bill. As one of the "participants" in those years, I can tell you that we'd have had a really good laugh at any of those cars, save maybe the Cougar, being a muscle car...and the Cougar cited was a bit short on muscle. Of course Cougars were really considered "pony cars", although the line between pony cars and muscle cars blurred toward the end of the decade. padgett
Quote Not really, an adult will not fit in the rear seat of a pony car but may in a muscle car.
