Paul Falabella
Never noticed this. Appears to be a small ground strap, top is connected to the heater box. Bottom is not attached but appears it will reach the trans fluid dipstick. What is it for, Where does it attach? Thanks Paul
D Yaros
Looks as though it mates to the clamp on the exhaust pipe?
avgwarhawk
Its a ground wire certainly. Should be one just above on the head to the firewall. At least my three speed has it there. Since yours is an automatic it may be the location for the ground wire. You could simply attach it to the screw that holds your tranny dipstick in place(the bracket there). Make sure the surfaces are clean. Edited August 8, 2016 by avgwarhawk (see edit history)
Guest gmeyer316
On my 55 Century it goes from a screw just below the heater box to the dip stick bracket screw.
buick5563
Yep. That screw on the bracket should have the ground strap attached.
Beemon
Always wondered what that screw was for on my 56. It's just always been there with nothing attached to it.
