tcslr
Carte BB1 carburetor. Runs fine. It was pointed out to me that when I am going downhill and am not using the throttle, a fairly strong gasoline odor is smelled. idle seems fine - maybe a little fast but adjusting much lower I experience trouble with the car stalling. Plugs are fine. Any suggestions? Tom

Spinneyhill
Is the carb float level too high? or the needle valve not sealing properly and the excess fuel is draining out somehow?
carbking
Questions: (1) Application (what model vehicle)? (2) Which BB-1 (tag number)? (3) What fuel valve is in the BB-1? (4) Gravity feed or pressure system? (5) If pressure, how much pressure are you using? (6) Float setting? Jon. tcslr
it's on my '29 Chrysler. I need to check the tag I have no idea which fuel valve - will the tag provide a clue? an electric fuel pump is installed rather than the original vacuum system. I will check on the pressure. How do I check/determine the float setting? Tom
maok
Yep, that electric fuel pump is your main issue. Its probably pumping around 4 -6psi, you need less than 2.5 psi. Stick a fuel pressure regulator between the pump and carby, Bob will be your uncle. I use one of these; http://www.speco.com.au/images/GAM512-00.jpg
