Hi Guys,

Just picked up a 1939 Buick Roadmaster. I'm excited to finally own a pre-war car! I've been talking about it with my pops for some time now.  She's in pretty good shape, looks like a restoration happened at some point long ago. It's been converted to 12v, the upholstery has been done, and someone (ugh) diamond plated the running boards. There is some rust in a couple spots,  but overall pretty decent shape.

BUT........Not 10 minutes after I got it back to my garage the factory generator pulley (now mounted to a modern delco remy GM alternator) disintegrated. I know the Series 80's used the 7/8 belt rather than the 5/8 of the 40's and 60's.

Does anyone know or have any leads on where to get another 7/8 wide pulley? I've been scouring the internet like crazy and have come up dry. Thanks!

Also, here are some pics of the new girl.

Roadmaster Russ  Welcome to the world of '39 Buick's and the forum

You can join the '39 Buick Team here on the forum '39 Buick Team

Thread here for Dave T. Is hard to contact so keep trying  http://forums.aaca.org/topic/206688-dave-tachney/

Likely the pulley is common to several years

Are you going to keep the unusual color scheme?

@1939_Buick I'll be sure to join the team! Also, no... the original color was black. So it shall be so.

Good to read it will get a color change :) . Even 1 of those colors would be better in my humble opinion, but any owner can do what he wants with a car.

The steering wheel is not 39. But 39 steering wheel rims almost always break up. Dave T may have one, but cost $$$ to get recast in maroon.

Front fender park lights were an option. Genuine '39 park lights come up from time to time on ebay. They get good money.

Yeah, I think the wheel is from a 55. I'm impressed ya spotted that.

As far as the PO's taste, I can deal with the interesting color choice a lot easier than the diamond plate running boards...

G'day and welcome aboard cobber !!

Always nice to see another '39er pop up.

It looks like you have the basis for a great Beasty there.

Glad to see she'll be going back to a single colour.

I've no doubt you'll love it.

Danny

Also, might be worth changing your "Newbie" status to "39 Buick Team Member" and putting in your location.

It's always nice to know where you're from

I have some other photos of this car

I'd love to see them. Are they from the CL ad?

Also, I can't find in the profile edit page where the member title is. I know on some other forums there is a minimum post count in order to allow custom titles. Does anyone know if that is the case here?

Unsure if the new software has post count limitations

I found a pulley! Its slightly larger but works. Found it on ebay for 23 bucks!

NOS Delco Remy 1878587 (New #1922348)

She is purring like a kitten now. Next step get the torque ball to stop leaking.

I just might have found a lead on a 39 parts car too!

Series 80 & 90 are very different to the series 40 (248ci) and series 60 (320ci like yours)

And there are differences between series 80 & 90

Yes, It's an 80 series, like mine. Or so he says. I'm still waiting to get more details.   =)
