Removing the motor - 1918 DB Touring

I remember working on one of my early Dodges, and seem to remember a retainer in front of the ball, below the radiator, with three bolts....the retainer was cupped to retain the front end of the ball. Radiator and front splash apron under radiator and frame rails had to be removed, then it was easy to get to....

This is going on a 40 year old memory, so I could be mistaken, but that's the picture that's in my mind....

It's amazing the car related trivia that can get trapped in one's brain. Unfortunately, it crowds out remembering such things as birthdays and anniversaries and names and all sorts of other stuff that the wife seems to think are important.
