1955 Part Color Question

Oil pan desludging taking longer due daily snow storms.

Did get this plate off, whose purpose appears to be to catch P/S fluid after it drips off the starter motor.(better check those hose connections)

After removing a 1/4 inch of fossilized p/s fluid/road grime mixture, it appears to have never been painted.

That possible?

Figured I'd ask before I hit it with the satin black and lose points at Pebble.

Paul;Mine had no primer just A very thin coat of what looked like semi black paint,it was very weathered after I cleaned it up. Mark M

Hit it with satin black. Pebble Beach will accept that.

I assume you are talking about the starter splash pan. (That is what it is called)

You do have to wonder what they were thinking back then. Did a stylist draw a picture and bring it to engineering and say ,"build this"?
