Grandpa
The attached factory pictures are of a 1938 Special / Century convertible coupe. I hope this helps.Grandpa
Mutt's37Buick
Thanks for the pictures.Do you know if Roadmaster interior would be similar?Do you know if the headliner in a leather seat car was leather or cloth? Thanks
trimacar
It would be quite unusual to have a leather headliner in any car. The only one I've ever done was an early '50's Cunningham. In fact, that may be the only one I've ever seen....
Mutt's37Buick
Thanks for the info on headliners.Does anyone know if these pictures of a leather interior in a 38 Roadmaster convertable are factory correct. They are certainly fancier than the picture Grandpa provided. Thanks
Grandpa
The pictures in Post #5 are not a stock convertible sedan interior design in any 1938 Buick series. The attached factory pictures are of a 1938 Special / Century convertible sedan. Granted, the pictures are not a Roadmaster, but you can see the general approach to the interior design. Of interest in these pictures is that the seat covering is a mix of cloth and leather. I am not sure if this mix of fabrics were offered in the regular production or if it is a special order. This is a bit off the subject, but Buick could provide special interiors if ordered. For example, there is a 1941 Buick Roadmaster convertible coupe (76C) that appears in several Hollywood films of the early to mid 1940s that has an all fabric interior. The upholstery design is the same as the leather interior except that it is made of cloth. This car must have been ordered by a film studio - - - Perhaps the studio didn't want the actors sitting on a leather seat on a sunny SoCal summer day.Grandpa

I found these in 1935 Buick! Grandpa's first pic is correct for a convertible, and he's correct as usual when he says the 38 pics aren't stock!Car Brochures - 1937 Buick Brochure / Page26.JPGHave fun exploring! And if you get in touch with these guys.....1937 and 1938 Buicks www.1937and1938Buicks.com someone could be able to help?CheersGrant Edited August 20, 2013 by Grant Magrath (see edit history)
Grandpa
Regarding my prior Post #6 - I would like to add that the 1938 Buick Roadmaster convertible sedan did have a center armrest (unlike the Special / Century pictured). In the attached factory picture of 1938 Roadmaster the rear seat center armrest can be seen.Grandpa
Grandpa
This is the picture of the 1938 Roadmaster which shows the center armrest.

Marty Roth
I will get pictures of the completely original leather seats in my 1937 Roadmaster 80C Phaeton if I get a chance this weekend. There is a rear center fold-down armrest. In the meantime, here are photos of another 1937 Roadmaster 80C - restored, but with original interior. Sorry there is not much of a shot of the seat, but the rest may be of interest to you.
Mutt's37Buick
Thanks Marty for your help.Yes the other pictures are helpful as well.Interesting that the door panels in your pictures show two rectangular shapes which is like cloth Roadmaster panels. This is different than the 38 Century pictures Grandpa posted that show four horizontal lines across the top.1) Does anyone know if door panels Roadmasters with leather interior always had the two rectangular shapes, or did they vary? Thanks
Guest bkohio
These are of my 37 40C convertible. The 38 upholstery is slightly different design.
Guest Grant Magrath
The door panels were usually changed every year. In other years, the design was the same, leather or not.CheersGrant
