Guest matt69scrambler
Hi to all,I really like the old AMC's but came across this nice 1969 Cougar XR7 with factory 351 Performance Group option ! I have all the original paperwork and window sticker. All history of the car is documented just like my old 69 Hurst SC/Rambler.I traded my very rare 1967 Ambassador wagon 4spd project car for the Cougar. My friend will now restore it for his AMC shop but I will still get to help and enjoy that special wagon . He hopes to have it done in a year or so. Much sooner then I could ever had done the car . It was a good deal for us both as I have had a old Mustang,T-bird and Lincoln but never a Cougar. Cougar runs and drives well and is in nice shape but not perfect. Will enjoy putting many miles on her. I need the correct steering wheel and the original seets recoverd. All in time but no hurry as I'm just glad to have it. I also need to add the 351 performance group power dome hood stripe, black to keep it subtle, Edited February 20, 2012 by matt69scrambler (see edit history)

r1lark
Oh, that is SWEET! The Magnum 500's look great on it. Memories - passed up a very similar Cougar about 25 years ago, in great shape. Still kick myself on that one.

keiser31
I have always been a MoPar guy. Since my dad worked for Chrysler Corp, I sort of inherited the love for them. When it was time for me to get rid of my 1963 Dodge four door my dad and I went looking for a newer car. We looked at a 1967 or so Cougar with the "Dan Gurney Special" package. It was a forest green with the black vinyl top and some special items that I can't recall. I told my dad that I really wanted to look at something in the Chrysler line. I ended up getting a perfect dark green 1968 Roadrunner. I always have loved the Cougar looks from 1967-70. You did good.

Guest bofusmosby
Great car! The first car I ever owned was a 68 Cougar. I finally sold it back in the 80's for $300, and have regretted it ever since. To me, the best looking ones were from 67-70. Be careful, they have a lot of power.
kevin1221
Great car Matt. I 1976, I lived in Ohio and bought a 1969 Cougar XR7 convertible. It was the same color as yours and was fully loaded. 351, auto, air, power steering, brakes, windows, AM-FM stereo. It was a very unique car, but very rusty even in 1976.Before I could repair it. the wife got hit from behind and pushed into the car in front of her. That damage, along with the rust, led to the car being totalled. I always wished that I could have restored that one, as you don't see many of them.Good luck with your great looking car. That tire / wheel combination really look good!Kevin
