Long Roof
One of the things I have planned for my winter projects is a new exhaust system. The factory tips for the dual exhaust bumper are next to impossible to find. Has anybody come up with a similar after market solution? I want to stay with the rectangular shapped tips, not round. JohnD1956
The factory authorized aftermarket tips are around. I have a pair that I had on my 56 Super before I found a pair of the correct tips. They are rectangular, but just a bit different than the correct tips. They attach to the exhaust pipes. Guest NikeAjax
Just my opinion here, but if you want to actually use the car for anything other than showing it, I'd get something close, as those tips die almost as soon as you put them on when you back out of your driveway about .25-seconds after your tires dip into the gutter and back out again. You'll hear a sickening scraping sound and you'll use lots of four letter words strung together. I just use my original highly scraped up tips and try not to think about them when I go for a drive! Again, just my opinion,Jaybird
42crazy
Chrysler muscle cars in the '60's used a rectangular shaped exhaust tip, don't remember which one though.
JohnD1956
Finally found my set of Factory Authorized Dealer exhaust tips. Here's a set of pictures showing one original style exhaust tip and the factory authorized tips. The original style is one that was fabricated for me several years ago. It's off by about 1/4 inch heightwise. Otherwise it's about as close as you can get to the factory produced tips.
buick5563
John D,You need to get a hundred of those made up and sell 'em!
JohnD1956
I've often thought I need to learn how to make them and then sell em. Unfortunately the guy who did make it went out of business here and although he is still in the area I do not believe he has a shop anymore. I really should look him up and get a drivers side one made.

SpecialEducation
We just went down to the muffler shop and picked out some off-the-shelf tips that he had in stock. I was amazed how nice they fit. For $25 each, they are not too shabby. https://www.facebook.com/1956Buick/photos/a.428289983913212.1073741826.169746389767574/443387552403455/
