Replaceing rear brake springs on my 56 Windsor

Recommended Posts

I had to replace the R/R wheel cyl on my Windsor. Other than bending the drum with the puller, it went fairly smooth, UNTIL it was time to hook up the brake springs. What's the secret? I'm considering trying a come-along!

Thanks:(

I also use a long handle screwdriver and safety glasses. Those springs are POWERFUL and can jump for yards. After 10 or so attempts with a screwdriver to keep it centered you will get the hang of it. Also a small pair of vice grips can be of assistance in controlling the spring movements while under pressure.

Did you use the the C-845 puller that Chrysler recommends. I am about to embark on the job and would like some help finding the right puller. i also have a 56 windsor.
