bubba
This movie is called Upper World and features an early 1930's town car limousine. This car is featured in the movie with a young Andy Devine as the chauffer. He gets a speeding ticket in it. There also is a Packard coupe and a Pierce Arrow appearing once. The dialogue that Ginger Rogers says in the backseat is priceless but can you pick out the problem? TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES
Dave Mitchell
Great clip! Great car - looks like a 32 Deluxe 8 town car rather than a V16 limo though. The look at the front is fleeting, but judging by the lights I think it is an 8 and not a Twin Six, put perhaps a 32 expert will weigh in. Made me want to see the movie. JD in KC
Here's a still shot for you 30's experts to ponder. I don't recognize much of anything before 1940.
keiser31
There were no V16 production model Packards.
Owen_Dyneto
The screen writer was no doubt just exercising artistic license, doubt he cared one way or the other for what was correct, just what made good dialogue. vintageride
According to Floyd Clymer's (1954) "Cars of the Stars", Madge Evans (1930s MGM Actress) owned a Packard matching JD's movie still from Upper World (1934 Warner Brothers film). I wonder if either car still exists. They look like 1932 Twin Six Town Cars to me.Vintageride Edited January 5, 2011 by vintageride added photo (see edit history)
JD in KC
Actually, Madge owned a Coupe. Source: Detroit Public Library via PackardInfo.comEDIT: Never mind. Either Madge was going through Packards like most women went through silk stockings, or she was moonlighting for Earl Anthony. Found another Packard supposedly owned by her. Source same as above. Edited January 5, 2011 by JD in KC Correcting an incorrect assertion. (see edit history)

idrjoe_sandiego
The long hood in the first picture suggests Twin Six. The second picture with the shorter hood is an Eight.
