I would call this "the Owner's Dream Car." His bubble could pop if he just took a look at the Fisher Body tag. If you missed the original posting on Tuesday, August 24th, it was listed with a starting bid of $5,000 with a NO RESERVE. :confused:

His bubble probably popped when eBay removed the listing with that one bid. He says he has other offers though. We have been communicating about the car since before he put it on ebay. I've advised him of where all the tags are and he says they are all gone. Looks like the engine is still there so I've asked him for the engine serial #, that might help date the car at least. He seems sure it is a protoype which some things do point toward that. How it ever got to the backwoods of Georgia would be my big question.

why is there a close up picture of the drivers door with a vent window on the door, and all the other pictures there is no vent window frame to be seen?

Ewing, an astute observation. Since Buick was building Skylarks in 53, why would there have been a prototype that year? Further, would they have had a 54 windshield before the 53 model year?

My guess would be; it's a custom

My first thoughts were that is a custom too, but I have seen 54's with some pretty strange features that were known to have been from the factory. So while I'm pretty convinced it is just an unfinished custom, I don't like to rule out it being possibly a design room prototype that somehow made it to the backwoods of Georgia somehow neither.

The engine number is V242590 7 or Z He says the last letter looks more like a Z than a 7. I'm thinking it should be 7 IE Roadmaster/Skylark, right?

does this tell us anything. I know that 53's started with V2001 (right) and 54's started with the number V273956. So the engine number would put it being built on into the year, not when any prototypes would have been being created. Right?
