4 cylinder buick engine... what year??

Dodge1934

My '23 has a fully enclosed valve cover held in place with 2 wingnuts and 2 covered oil holes and the pushrods are covered with a metal cover too... I don't remember when buick covered things up. The engine number is about right for a '23, I think. Right now i'm 400 miles from the car and my information.

The early engines, (pre 16) had jugs that were cast in pairs, and were of the headless style. The later engines, the block was cast as one, and the head was removable. I agree, from the number it seems to be the later 4 cylinder. Dandy Dave!

John

That looks like an engine I have in my garage.

Given the engine number is just over 1,000,000 and engine and car numbers were close I'd say a 1923. The last year for the 4 cylinder engine was 1924.

If the transmission is attached the 1923 went to a speedo drive from the trans while the 22 still ran off a gear on the passenger side front wheel.
