Windup winshield handle on 1927

How do you remove the windup windshield handle on a 27 standard?. My 26 has a scew in middle of handle. The 27 doesn't, it hasn't been used since 1942.

I don't have a 27, but I know the 29 window and windshield winder handles have a screw on escutcheon.

What Mark is saying is that you rotate the escutcheon to remove the handle on a 27. It screws onto the header panel. The door handle work the same way.

Look at the edge of the escushion where it goes against the fabric. There is a notch in it. Find a flat piece of metal that fits the notch. Sometimes screw driver blades work but a piece a little thicker that a screwdriver blade works better.

The escushion is supposed to unscrew while the handle remains stationary.

The probability is 99.9999% that you will breake the threads off the escushion when you try to remove it.

There may be replacement handles available but if you do not find them, you may want to leave the original handles on for a while. Consider carefully if you want to try removing them now or later.
