  1. I do not think anyone is making fun of the shows, it is the format and concept of them that people are poking fun at. There are some very skilled and talented people in this hobby/industry on TV. But more time is spent on other stuff, on some of the shows. I think a lot of young people like the older cars, but just like back in the day, they personalize the car/truck to suit their tastes. That is why the custom/hot rod scene is so big. And the choices that people have now really opens up the door. My guess is that if guys/gals back in the day had access to a 480 HP LS3, you would have seen them on the salt flats. Nothing has changed, people just have more options to personalize their car/truck. New cars lack style in the design of the body from the stand point that aerodynamics has painted them in a corner. The beautiful sweeping lines of 1930's cars, built on a modern platform makes every one smile. And I would not rule out people's love for a restored car. I think that there is a great love for a car that has been restored right, they just have a great feel when you are driving them. The big problem is a lot of old cars that are on the market have a ton of problems due to poor work, and throw in the mix people getting screwed by less then stellar shops, cost of original parts. And you will see more people running away from the old stuff, and replacing it with new components. Your 53 Caddy restored correct, is a very nice driving car.
  2. This area would be a wide open market for jobs in that industry, I mean white wall and black wall tires have never been made here.
  3. buy a new set of tires, hard to keep cleaning 56 year old white walls.
  4. White walls, but it has to be a wide white. The half inch wide white strip, and white letters looks bad, turn them in.
  5. Cool stuff on the Apollo Shot. I thought I notice you in the film. So what really happened that day?
  6. 36-37 Cords look pretty good stock.

  8. I feel cheated, that is 4 minutes and 45 seconds of my life that I will never get back. Are you sure "The Apollo Shot" was not a mixed drink?
  9. I think that a image has been cast in stone about some jobs, is there truth in it?
  10. No fear of making a enemy out of me, I have no ax to grind with anyone.
  11. You could be right, That is why I have a keg of beer in the shop.
  12. I have to be honest, just about every day I find myself saying, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Only to find myself saying the next day, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
  13. It was me, and I have to say you have some nerve Matt!!!!!() Just kidding, that was for that baseball card thing. I was a inspector for a company, for a few years. And no joke, they had a nick name for me in the office. "The deal killer" Nobody every bought a car that I inspected. Having done that side job for a while, it gives a person a different view of things. I had people mad at me for their sale falling through, they wanted copies of the report, copies of the pictures. I told a few people that if you had someone willing to pay to have your car inspected, you had a buyer. That buyer was interested in the car from your description, if your description matched my pictures and report. You would have sold your car. I think it hurt my business in some ways, because people got rubbed wrong with the no sale. I did nothing wrong, I did what I would want a inspector to do on my dime, look out for the buyer. Double edge sword, I have some other opinions on it as well. But it might be best to keep them to myself. If you want to be honest, it is a long road. I know, I am still driving on that road.
  14. Great picture of the outside. The Hudson is a rare one, sad that it closed down.
  15. The bike does not really hit the pole very hard. Looks like the handlebars hit the pole. I am sure there was some road rash from the slide. You have to wonder if the two dogs watching from the side are to blame, they can be seen fleeing the scene.
  16. You can see the cars on the episode of car crazy. Nice cars, The show room looks top notch. He has a Hudson there, so you know it is a good collection.
  17. Life in 1934 was meant to go that fast, some times going 35 is fast enough.
  18. There is a episode of Car Crazy that shows the same Guy/company owns all of those TV channels
  19. That Horch is like a 1940's-50's female movie star. All the right curves in the right places. Stunning car
  20. Like I told Victorialynn2 on the shoe box. It is the shoes that make the outfit. Looking pretty fly Bmac. Do not see much growth on the pony tail.
  21. I think that they built this car? very nice work, I looked the car over pretty good. Stunning car, the color choice was spot on. Do not know anything about the shop, did see it on TV. Interesting trip that was down there to FL. My favorites at the show, were the Packard Boat Tail (told the owner at the end of the show I thought his car was one of the best there), Duesenburg and the Horch.
