  1. Can be good used, or better. Respond here or email me at jazverina@san.rr.com BCA#39915
  2. I trust you checked online with Rock Auto? I have a '60 with A/C and found one there.
  3. You may also want to contact SMS Auto Fabrics up in Oregon. http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ I have had pretty good luck with them on carpet, windlace, upholstery and other interior soft goods. Jan Zverina BCA # 39915 1960 Electra 4719
  4. What scales are those '59s and '60? Jan Zverina BCA#39915 San Diego CA 1960 4719
  5. Good to know, I guess. So far I have been lucky with them. Prompt response, quick and reasonable shipping.
  6. Thanks for your input, oldohioan - and your diagnosis is correct. Brushes are out of whack and springs are weak - it looks like it was not rebuilt with much care in the past. Thanks again!
  7. I've had some good luck with SMS Auto Fabrics in Oregon www.smsautofabrics.com when looking for matches for my '60 Electra. They are pretty responsive to email inquiries. Jan Zverina/San Diego BCA#39915 '60 Electra 4719
  8. Thanks TxBuicks. Going through the repair file of the previous owner(I bought the car last April), I see the gen was rebuilt once in 2003 and once in 2006. Either the rebuilds were not so good or something else. I am going to put a reading on it this weekend. I read somewhere that an overcharging condition can also illuminate the light. Also, there seems to be different voltage regs for A/C and non A/C Buicks in 60, maybe 61 as well. Someone said only the A/C ones are available now.
  9. Last weekend I tightened up the generator and A/C belts on my 1960 Electra 401 V8. Not too tight, but even with good quality identical belts, one is slightly looser then the other. (These two belts run identical for the Gen and A/C.) At idle in Drive, the generator light on the dash would flicker and then go off when I accelerated - I was told this is normal (?). But after about 20 miles, the Gen light went on - and stayed on. I checked all the connections at the gen, battery, voltage reg. Any easy diagnostics to see what's what? Any help appreciated before I contact a rebuild service - if anyone knows of a good one (San Diego/So.Cal area), please let me know. Jan Zverina 1960 4719 San Diego/BCA #39915.
  10. Speaking of heater cores, how do you get to one on a 1960 Electra with A/C? Nothing in the shop manual that's immediately apparent. Is access from the interior or engine compartment - or both?? Jan Zverina/BCA
  11. Ed and Sean, Thanks much for the information. It is indeed a 2982S. I will contact the Carb Shop. Does the gas pedal start mechanism complicate things? Is it just a matter of disconnecting the wire, and is the mechanism something I would include w/the carb for the rebuild? Thanks! Jan Zverina BCA #39915 1960 Electra 4719
  12. Can anyone tell me where I should look for the part/model number on a Carter 4 bbl carb for a 401 Nailhead on a 1960 Electra 4719? I am also looking for some names of good carb rebuilders. I know about CARS Inc. but any others as well? Thanks/ Jan Zverina
  13. Does anyone have an extra 'I' letter from the hood of a 1960 Buick? Mine says 'Buck' because I am missing it. Does not have to be NOS or have the two studs - just decent chrome. I am also willing to purchase the full set if need be. Any leads appreciated as well!
  14. Thanks, Greg. That's interesting, even though the grille emblem is the tri-shield. Was '60 the first year for that emblem? Where are the tri-shield mats available as reproductions?
  15. I suppose you are keeping the hood script? I am looking for the "I" letter, but would purchase the whole set if you are willing.
  16. Looking for the hood letters for a 1960 Electra (LeSabre and Invicta the same). I really just need the "I" but will buy full set if available. Also looking for orginal style front floor mats, (ribbed with tri-shield) either in black or preferably chocolate brown. Good or VG condition; does not have to be NOS.
  17. Thanks! I found an excellent match for the windlace at SMS Auto Fabrics in Oregon if you are unfamilar with that source. It is a copperish rust color, same as the the 'cordoveen' fabric/vinyl seats. Dash, door panels and carpets are a cordovan (dark reddish brown) color.
  18. Can anyone tell me if the windlace trim (the woven fabric interior edging around upper door openings) extends all the way down the A-pillar from the roof to the front doorsills/kickpanel area? Mine come from the headliner above the front door window, but end at about the middle of the vent windows (half-way down the windshield pillars on both the driver and pass. sides) which looks odd. It's a six-window pillar sedan, body style 4719. Thanks!
  19. Thanks for your response. Your answer makes perfect sense. I will hold on to my aluminum one since the core charge was only $10. Never know when I might need another one.
  20. Thanks, Dan. Does the entire column have to come out to get to that soldered connection?
  21. The horn buttons had to be pressed to get the horn to work. That's why I suspect it's the horn wire that runs through the steering column shaft. But I am not sure where it starts on the low (firewall) end of the column. There's a brass spring-loaded pin or teminal there. (The wire attached to that is what I disconnected from that pin. I put the jumper wire into the female plug of that detached wire to get the horns to work when I pressed the buttons.) I removed the pin terminal - it is attached to column with two small hex screws and has a contact that rides the steering shaft inside the column, but I still cannot see where the horn wire begins inside the column.
  22. Thanks. I cleaned all contacts and grounds and still nothing. So I ran an external wire from the wires from the horn buttons under the center emblem cap on the steering wheel, OUTSIDE the column to the wire that connects to the pin contact at the very bottom of the steering column, just below the neutral safety switch - and the horns worked! So I guess the fault must be in that wire that runs through the center shaft of the column, Anyone know how to get to that one???
  23. Anyone have any ideas how to get the horns working on my '60 Electra 4719? Horns themselves work - they are mounted in place and I hot-wired them to the battery. Horn relay changed to no avail. I unscrewed the horn push assembly on the steering wheel and checked/cleaned the contacts and checked wiring. Brown wire is connected to the stick-up terminal at bottom of steering column. Other than trying to clean the contacts inside the plug-in connector of the light blue/brown wires at the relay, I am running out of ideas. There does not appear to be a separate fuse for the horn in the fuse panel or anywhere else. Is that right? Any ideas appreciated!
  24. Interesting. The only one I can currently source is one in cast iron.
