  1. There is always the possibility the column was painted at some time. Most of the painted interior trim in my car was repainted another color green. The trim around the rear vent windows(see back seat photo) and some spots here and there show Nile green, which I painted the roof. Started noticing some overspray under the dash. That's what tipped me off to the respray. Any overspray anywhere?

  2. I think the solution would be looking up the interior color code in a Color and Fabric Showroom album. A similar problem I am having in that alot of the interior of my car was repainted a darker green. There are still some small areas that weren't painted . I think that was the original color. What is your interior code? Mine is 473.

  3. The plan is for the rear bumper, tail light hsngs. lower 1/4 trim, trunk handles. Front bumper, grill, mustache and headlamp doors.

Librandi's last year told me some of the Roadmaster pieces are plated in gold, didn't say how much that would cost. Can only imagine!

  4. <A 40's and 50's era car does not look right with a base coat / clear coat paint job>

Agree there, kind of like looking at the paint through Saran wrap.

I am curious why the Northeast seems to have much higher prices for chrome work than most of the rest of the country? Seems I'd save a boatload if I went to Col. or Ariz. or Ala. Librandi's and Paul's quote very high prices, are not in expensive/high tax areas. Others have mentioned much lower prices elsewhere.

I'd just like to be able to drop off and pick up but don't want to make a transcon trip.

  5. Planned on doing some chrome last year but rear end, roof paint A/C, radio etc.,took care of those funds.

Anyone have chrome work done lately? Hope to get some done this fall. Primarily looking within 400 miles of NYC so I can dropoff and pickup.

    Thanks in advance

  6. My 55 Roadmaster has a dealer trunk ad stating "Morgan Bros. Selma Alabama". Cannot find any reference anywhere about this dealership. I have even contacted a couple of dealers in the Selma area to no avail. Anyone ever heard of this dealer? Trying to

post-54093-143142024502_thumb.jpgfind a little background on this car.

    Thanks

  7. I ordered trunk fabric, crosstich taupe w/black, from SMS. Looks near match. The side panels on my trunk are fabric covered cardboard, looks factory, never seen another car like that? Other 55's side panels are bare textured cardboard, that right?

Floorpan has several factory made holes covered with a filler, which is no longer sticking to the pan. What can I use that is similar to cover these holes?

The spare tire well is finished in a tan textured paint which is coming up in some spots. I removed the loose stuff and the surface rust. What can that be refinished with?

I have 8.20's on the car and the spare is snug in the well. Didn't come with a spare and maybe not original jack. Anyone have a picture of a spare/jack setup the way it's supposed to be?

Lotta question for a trunk,I know.

    Thanks in advance

  8. While your under there, check the front stabilizer. I replaced the radius rod bushings at the same as the links and bushings up front and now my car rides like a Cadillac....ooops!

  9. Well the radio was an easy fix. Just routed it back through the light switch. The power antenna did not work from the same source, so is back connected to the ganged Potter & Bloomfield VE4-45F11 relays(I didn't read technical school matchbook ads for nothing ya know!).

That I assume is because it is a later aftermarket unit. I suspect if I could find an original(not likely), it'd work just fine with the light switch.

Now the starter is another story. The carb is rebuilt but suspect the heat riser may be sticking as she doesn't idle without a little nudge on the gas until there is some temp. That might be a problem with the pedal start so needs to be addressed first.

And Rob, you can bet your bottom looney, when comes time to redoing below the side moldings, I'll consult you as to color oops colour!

  10. After vomitting an oil charge and 2 pounds of R-12(please don't tell the EPA),I think I have to bite the bullet and get the compressor done.

Old Air Products says that A5 compressors can't be rebuilt. That don't sound right. Anyone know someone who does?

    Thanks

  11. Nailed it Willie!. Page 104A,Master Body Parts Book, shows Relay, door window electric and Breaker, circuit, which I also could not identify. Another mystery solved.

The radio and antenna thing I think have to do with the antenna being a newer replacement and protecting the radio from starting with it on.

That leaves the pedal start deal.

    Thanks

  12. My 55 Roadmaster has a push button starter. It appears the wiring for the starter, radio and antenna are routed through a pair of Potter and Broomfield VF4-45F11 relays. Anyone heard of this? Gonna be a problem returning to pedal start? Can of worms, leave it alone?

Also, behind the drivers kick panel, high up is a factory(marked Delco) relay, doesn't seem to be on schematic. Any ideas what it's for?

    Thanks.

  13. The radio power lead was wired though this device,an IC and 25 M/farad cap(and a couple of fried resistors). It seems to have reduced Batt votage by 1v. The antenna and heater wires are routed though another relay looking device. I hooked the radio up to the headlamp switch as per schematic and it works fine.

Anyone ever seen this? Reason for?

Reason I ask,I am thinking of just returning everything back to factory.

What color is the radio lead supposed to be?
