  1. Paint is rattle can from CARS. Other than the sludge inside and thick covering of oil/ATF/PS Fluid/Road Grime outside, pan was in pretty good nick.

So even if you have good oil pressure, it pays to look in that pan if you're not sure it was ever done!

    Happy New Year!

  2. Oil pressure was always good, even though the pickup screen was pretty sludged up. Soaked it in kerosene, then Simple Green, Then blew it out with Brake Cleaner. Pretty clean now. Gonna replace the heater hoses while I'm under here. Will post cleaned up pics in a bit.

  3. Thanks, will get that off and try a Kerosene soak and then a Simple Green soak. The pan bolts came clean after an over night soak. Similar looking schmutz. The nastiest stuff is at the very bottom of the pan. Very thick greyish sludge.

  4. The pan is off and while not the worst I've seen, still plenty of sludge. Probably 1/2 to 3/4" layer. My question; is the pickup removed by the two screws circled? Or maybe just submerge it in a pan of Simple Green on a trolley jack?

    Thanks,

    Happy Holiday

  5. The only place where the carpet in question was, is on the bar/footrest on the lower rear of the front seat. This bar may only be on cars with power seats. Maybe the Atlanta factory had some left over from previous years.. Maybe this part was made in another plant. As you can't even see the part unless your head is on the floor, I will probably just go with Daytona for everywhere. I'll just take my chances at Pebble Beach!post-54093-143142882895_thumb.jpg

  6. My original thought was that the bar in the last two pics. was a footrest. It may just be a brace for the power seat. Or do all Roady front seats have this brace? Whatever it is was covered with the narrow wool nap carpet on the right. Can anyone with a 55(maybe 54 and 56 too) roady take a look under the rear of the front seat, if this bar is there and what it's covered with? Caddy's and Old's may be similar. SMS agrees the original carpet is a Daytona, but are not sure of this wool carpet on the bar. They can do either one. Would like to get it right the first time.

    Thanks

  7. So Willie, in the SMS samples you think the lower tan(avail. in green) swatch is closest to original? What do you have in your machines? And can you think of any reason the footrest would be covered in that stiff, short, plush. It is closer in color to the light green sample and this is making the color selection harder too. The master body book seems to show only one green color carpet available for several interior trims. I would assume it to be a darker green. But not sure.

And the Wilton does look like a good option.

  8. The more I think about it, I doubt if that footrest would have worn evenly without leaving one loop. It really does look like a short nap Saxony style. I don't think the dealer album even shows carpeting. That would help. Probably go with the lighter green Daytona. Not going to Pebble with this one anyway!
