  1. It was good to see you and Atena in Auburn.

Also glad we were able to grab a beer in the lobby with Lance and catch up, I enjoyed the convo (well technically y'all had beer). 🤔

    Car looked great, enjoy it!!!

The show is over and I am tired. I judged Reattas and Roadmaster for the BCA. Lots of fun and lots of nice cars. Brian put together a good show.

My Cadillac got judged for HPOF class (Historic preservation of Features). In other words, how original is the car. I knew a couple of issues but the judges decided I was worthy of a nice plaque. YEA !

Lots of nice cars on the show field including race cars and old tow trucks. Now on to Nashville for a few days.

Thank you Bill for the kind words. It was great to see you and Dee and many other Buick owners. Congratulations on your HPOF award with AACA, your car was very deserving of the award.

Thank you for your help in judging the Buicks for this show within a show.

  3. I wrote this in the other thread, but it bears repeating here as well

I just wanted to say thank you to all the Buick Owners that participated in the event today. I hope it was enjoyable, though i know different from a BCA National event. I believe we were just under 100 Buicks registered.

It was my pleasure to serve the Buick community in partnership with AACA and the Buick Heritage Alliance.

I would ask that all Buick owners who attended extend a thank you to the AACA for making the event happen and for efforts in the interests of the collector automobile hobby.

I look forward to seeing you all in Lisle in 2022 (and maybe I might make it to the Mid-America Regional in Chesterfield, MO this fall).

  5. So @Steve Moskowitz said I was in charge of the weather for Auburn. I had to remind him it was 104 the last time I was in charge of the weather... for Concord in 2012. So with that said I wanted to point out the weather forecast had the BCA National taken place in Concord this week as planned, which is 91 tomorrow and Thursday, then 78 Friday and 82 Saturday with a chance of showers.

But since I'm in charge of the weather in Auburn it looks even better... 76 and partly cloudy for show day. Hopefully it holds like that.

Ben, I’m afraid I’m out of commission for a spell.  I had heart attack on Thursday evening and by midnight I had a stent in a main artery that was 99% blocked!  I got a few restrictions that should all end in a few days.  I’ve been trying to build a small car/equipment shed and my body finally came to a stop on Thursday afternoon and then violently rebelled a few hours later.

I feel lucky but I also feel great right now.  But, not great enough to go sand cabinets!

    Glad you are ok Joel

  7. quick story about acorn nuts for tightening heads.

Before I was born dad had an Alfa Romeo Spider like the car from The Graduate. Apparently it broke a lot, in particular it liked to blow head gaskets. Dad tried all sorts of things but it kept blowing head gaskets and he eventually parted with the car. Shortly after he parted with the car he was talking to someone about the problems and they said that's an easy fix put an extra washer under the acorn nut. Dad's response: "Extra washer? there is no washer under the acorn nut".

So moral of the story: be careful you are not getting false torque readings cause your acorn nuts are hitting the stud instead of actually torquing the head down to the block.

  8. The registration deadline for the Buick Auburn Celebration is this Friday June 18th.  We have a really great event planned and car count is steadily climbing for both Buicks and AACA cars.

Here is the original thread about it.

Here is the Who's going thread?

Usually the cars are parked at the host hotel on the non show days, thus it becomes a big party/cruise-in type atmosphere for the days ahead of the main show.  It's a chance to get to know the people who attended, wash your car, share a dining experience, and/or just kick back with some others and have a cool refreshment, without a care. while surrounded by a sea of our favorite topics.  Just arriving for a main car show within a multiple day event is really shorting yourself on a great experience.

Key word "usually" this isn't a BCA event, it is an AACA event, different usually...

But I have GOOD NEWS, not only is there plenty of parking on Thursday and Friday, but AACA has agreed to dedicate an area for show car parking on those days. so the "cruise-in atmosphere" will be there.

Now we just need more cars... get your registrations in ASAP

I'm new to the car show thing, so help me out here. I'm going to arrive in my '64 on Thursday evening. I was planning to register this weekend so that I could park on the show field throughout the event. I will not want my car judged. Now that I know the cars will be on the field only on Saturday I assume that I'll be parking in the spectator lots on Friday. I have to leave for home around Noon on Saturday. Given all that, I see no reason to register at all. Am I missing something?

Let me get some answers on parking for Friday. You could leave by noon, but supposed to stay til 3 but on one will stop you.

So I don't need to get there till Friday sometime? I was originally coming Thursday but if the main show is only Saturday I will not come up till Friday.

Flea market on Friday...setup day Thursday

    Cruise in downtown Friday night

We are planning on going.  Registration sent in 2 weeks ago, but still no confirmation or acknowledgement.

Willy, You will not get one unless you sent in a SASE. At least that's what i read on the one registration form (not sure if it was on Buick or AACA form.

    Thank you.

What an indictment!  Thousands of members and only 1452 could bother to vote.   The rest have no leg to stand on to complain if not happy with the way the club is run.

      Good luck to the Board.

      Ben

Actually much less than 1452. Remember you can vote for 3 so you can't add the individual totals together. Based on the counts about I'd say it's more like 550 - 650 members voted.
