Any one look into the Tesla? Personally I am going to build my own electric. Either one of my Rx7's or a metro. 80 mile for the metro between charges and kits are readily available.

Actually GM had a deal with congress earlier than 2003, because while I was on Ft. Belvior VA in 2003 I spoke with the team working on the US team. They had three running and driving at that time. I did con a ride out of one of them. I also got the low down on why the team or atleast one of the engineers did not think the cars would make it to market. One the hydrogen conversion used platinum, and we all know how scarce and expensive that is. Two, the cheapest and most abundant way to get hydrogen is to burn natural gas. So it would make more sense to just use the gas as fuel. Now if they can overcome these may be we will see them in mass production.
  4. IPC will not affect the engine running. I have pulled mine out completely and never had an engine problem. Also find a new mechanic. You have a simple sounding problem and they are trying to take you for a ride. As stated above it is most likely the CPS, I would also put a 50% bet on the ignition control module.
  5. I have had rough idle due to the O2, without it throwing a code.
  6. I hope you make some progress on it. I am in the process of trying to teach myself hexa decimal to help figure out the communications on it. This is only the tip of what it will take to build my own radio brain.
  7. I know you did not touch the rack, but I would have them check the bolts for the rack. they can get to them with a long extention or a few or them from the top of the car.
  8. From everything I have read here, I would just go with the 3800 SC. lighter and more powerfull, pluss it is almost a bolt-in. This is unless you are going with the Northstar. Then you may have a bit more power but a much bigger headache.
  9. If you are planning on doing it in a 88/89 I would go with the 3800 SC. This way all of the TCC works to include the diagnostics. If you are doing it in a 90/91 the northstar would be a good choice. I would strart with a donner engine craddle, tranny, and engine from a Allante. I believe it was a 94 they threw the Northstar into.
  10. Here's just alittle more help. http://forums.aaca.org/f116/aux-inputs-244951.html
  11. The second set works the same as the first, but one will over ride the other. This is how I use mine for a aux in and a dvd player.
  12. The gasket should be replaced. It will be a cheap fix compaired to what the later damage could be. Also most of the time a coolant smell is a heater core gone bad.
  13. Also bad O2 can cause the issue also. If it has not been change in 20-30k I would do it. It is regular maint.
  14. They are a dime a dozen at wrecking yards
  15. any good with communication busses? I have been thnking about building my own Radio brain, but I do not know how to progam/write the communication bus.
  16. you coul always scrap the Teeves and go with the 91 ABS set up with vaccuum assist.
  17. I am using the factory aux in/ tape in puts (for the audio). With some added aplification after the factory stereo. The for the DVD/CD player I am using a half din DVD player (about $120) mounter in-between the driver seat and center counsel. This feeds a 7" raw screen (I pulled out of a add-on screen from a portable dvd player) mounted with two hex head screws in the tape player position. I also control the DVD player from the touch screen via a steering wheel control interface ($80). All, with out the amps, speaker, and subs, ran me around $300 and can be installed in couple hours.
  18. The 88/89 have the touch screen, so unless you want to loose it, there is no real "din" option for a flip out. you can add a screen or radio in the tape area, but bake sure it is what you want to do. I added a screen and a dvd player, with the option to add any other video and adio I would like to. and it all plays throught the stock set up.
  19. Will not really work on the 88/89
  20. I would go with Kenwood. They have a screen that would work great, always have high quality sound, and very intergrateable. This is the best option I have came up with, and I will be using it after my RX7 is finished. here is a link Kenwood - CarPortal?
  21. How much are you willing to spend?
  22. OK I have done alot of investigating and hope it helps down the road. The reason I wanted to use the newer front strut mount is that they are much more common and ussally stocked at a auto part hub store. The 90-91 strut mount was used from 1987 to at least 1997 on the Eldorado. The newer strut mount is a little beefier and offers a bit more rubber than the older one. They are not a direct fit on the 88-89 model, but knowing a couple things you can use them on a 89. You may be able to use them on the 88 if you switch to the newer strut, but I do not know if you would have to replace anything else. To use the newer strut mount on the 1989 Reatta all you have to do is get a spring cover from a 1987-91 Eldorado, 90-91 Reatta, or a 90-91 Riv and install as normal. Hope it helps some one eventually.
  23. No one? I just want to know if it is a upgrade and can be used or not.
