  1. Sounds like your gauge (sensor) is stuck at 1/4 tank. How much gas does it take to fill up?
  2. Does any one have an answer to the question originally posted?

You have a huge project on your hands. I would like to see it completed. As far as having "normal" guages, you should be able to use an other panal from a like year GM FWD. GM does not like to change up bolt paterns, so you may be in luck, but it will be a lot of yard time to find one. I would start with cadillacs from 85-91.
  4. Check and clean starter connections. Also check to see if there is voltage at the starter solenoid when it will not start. (These cars are no diffrent than any other, when it comes to the general mechanics of the thing.)
  5. Welcome to the board. I know we take a bit of pride in not being like most other forums on the web. Sounds like you got a very nice car also.

You might want to learn all the electronics do for you before you think about pulling them out. the on-board diagnostics that are second to none. You can make a pretty good stereo out of the factory set up, if you know what you are doing.
  7. CV joint? Need alittle more detail here.
  8. Are you reading off the Dash or the CRT (touch screen)? If it says communicatin problem then you may just need a cover for the ALDI connector.
  9. HMMMMMMMMMMMM, but the Reatta did not qualify for the cash for clunkers program. Better yet PERIOD!!!!!>
  10. These, minus the teeves and glass, are normal for all cars with the 3800. For what ever reason people think that a touch screen makes these cars hard to work on. Granted part can be hard to find, but the electronics are basically the same. All the engine sensors/controls are identical to all other 3800's of the same time frame. I will say once you get the bugs out of your Reatta it will be a very reliable car. I use min as a daily drive and it is 90 miles round trip these days and rarely have even a small issue. Pluss most parts are fairly cheap, due to the amount of cars that did use the 3800. Keep one other thing in mind. This is the only place on the web that people come for specialty advise on the unique machines.
  11. I have been meaning to do a write up on it. I will try to do it this weekend.
  12. They are only$20 and need to be changed every 30K or so.
  13. If you grab the brain box it al works with a little rewiring of the ABS brain connection.
  14. No, My ABS works perfectly. The only thing I have not done is get the ABS light to work with it. I am sure a relay attached to the signal wire would surfice to make this work, but I would have to go back to the wire diagrams.
  15. I would just upgrade to the 91'. You will have to pull the pedal and booster out of a 91' :Riv, Reatta, caddy
  16. I would go with a 4t60-E out of a SC modle. Yoy will need am axle from a 91 reatta or other Ebody. Also you will need the Shift select switch, (ECM/PCM), and you have to have the lower tranny mount modified.
  17. I know I do alot of mdifing, but I really would love to have an original in the garage. I know that will not happen for quite some time. So knowing that Jay Leneo has a couple of these beauties already I sent him tha link to to the car that I started this thread with. He will probably not even see the email, but I would like to see this car in the hands of some one that will enjoy the it and loves rare cars.
  18. Not the sam architecture.
  19. The SC engine internals would likely hold up to the 450hp. Now if you use a 5 speed tranny, I have been told by a couple places that they could build a getrag that would hold up to 50ohp. Not sure if there is any truth in it, but they were well know shops.
  20. Jon, All you have to do is use the OBD1 and have your prom reflash to operate the engine. If you would like, I would even do the swap for $500 pluss cost.
  21. Yes you must either build a adapter or not have one. My car passed WA state emissions for the 89' without one.
