I am old enough to remember the Bermuda Bell. Seems to me we had one on one of our cars in the 50's? I also recall J.C. Whitney selling them in their catalog.

Our '55 Coupe de Ville is featured this month on Wild About Cars. Here is the link -

If you look at the end of the distributor shaft, you will see that it has a spade/screwdriver type tip on the end. It goes into a slot on the oil pump. The only way one may get to that slot is with a long-handled screwdriver.
I do not understand why one would need to turn the oil pump to get the distributor back in, and would caution against doing so. The only reason for doing so would be to circulated oil inside the engine prior to it actually running under load.
It is hoped you marked the position of the distributor before removal? It is critical to put it back in that same position. That should be able to be accomplished by getting the unit close to your marks and use of slight movement in either direction to have the end of the distributor shaft fall into the slot on the oil pump.

Which raises an interesting question in itself. Pray tell, how does one tell whether it is Saginaw or TRW? Where does one look? What are the tell-tale signs, if any? When you ask anyone who might respond to your question be sure you can tell whether yours is a Saginaw, or a TRW (Thompson). they have two different types of fitment and won't interchange. That I do not know which I have is precisely why I have avoided jumping on the spare parts wagon for these items.

Do keep us posted with respect to your quest, and good luck!

1- Brakes
2-Top Hold downs
3-Trunk Hold down
4-Head/Tail Lights not cracked & working
5-Digital Dash works
6-DIC works
7-Pull all codes
These cars are more than very techy & complicated. The best advice is to have someone who owns and understands Allantes to look at the car with you!

I am learning so much from this thread. More than talking to people at local shows who dont seem to like talking to a young guy thats not in there group.
I really find your observation concerting, as well as disconcerting. We need "young blood" in the hobby and certainly should be receptive and encouraging, not dismissive. Hopefully your experience is not the norm for all of us old car guys?
I do not know where you are located, but if you are in SE WI, you are welcome anytime to come on by, eyeball, ask and help!

If the valve is missing/open you would NOT be getting heat to the carb or intake manifold. If it is there and stuck closed I would think you would have a restricted exhaust, which you certainly would notice.

I did, and I was very satisfied. I am in WI. The car to be inspected was in WA. The inspection/appraisal report included well over 100 photos for me to peruse. The reason I was satisfied was that the report convinced me NOT to buy the car!
Who did I use? Automobile Inspections

You obviously found it of interest. I am glad to see that. Thanks for the link!

I do not have all the answers to your questions, but I do know from personal experience "back in the day;" viz., 1959, the side view was/is mounted on the door.

No problem. That is why we all are here: To get/give help when needed, right?

We, and our 1962 Olds Dynamic 88 convertible, have been invited to participate, and have accepted.
Anyone else going to be there, let us know ahead of time. We can have our own AACA get together!

NAPA has/can get the P115 oil filter replacement for you:

Part Number: FIL 1100
Product Line: NAPA Gold Filters
$12.60

The tail lights clearly make it an 88, not a Super 88.

Am I missing something, or does it only have one hand; looks like the minute hand, not hour?
-
I have the same filter on both my '55 Cad and '62 Olds. They do precisely what they are supposed to do.
-
Yeah, I must admit I was rather humbled by the invite. Definitely a feather in my cap. Glad you like the pic.

The Selection Committee of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2nd Annual Celebration of Cars has asked us to display our 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 convertible at the invitation only event on May 10-12. Invitations went out to only 200 invitees. As a part of the festivities we get to make a parade lap around the famous brickyard.
I do not know if ours will be the only Oldsmobile on the show field? However, I am absolutely certain we shall be the only 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 convertible!

It must be close to 30 years ago that I was at Hershey when three guys stopped to look at the junk I was selling. One guy (was) Jack Nethercutt!"
And at the time was he "properly attired;" at least sporting what we would today call business casual?

I was there a little over a year ago. As it was cool outdoors, I recall wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and gym/running shoes. And yes, I was admitted to the Main Salon.

Use the electric with a switch, as a backup.

Is Shaker Heights in Cleveland?
It sure is! An upscale neighborhood in the day, and probably still so today.
Michigan Old U.S.27 Motor Tour 2012
in AACA - Shows and Tours
Posted
I have been on this tour, and it is great! Basically one starts out in the a.m., stops for lunch and a show, then on to another city to spend the night; have another show, dinner and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow tourers.
We had a police escort the entire route. People would come out of their houses or pull off the side of the road to view the parade of passing cars.
As far as I know, there are no vehicle restrictions.
I have yet to find another tour event that even begins to approach, let alone equal the fun of this one.
