    new carb

Did you ever have any luck with this? There's a few things that can make it idle wrong that doesn't have anything to do with the carb.
  3. Does anyone know a source that can restore or patch up original floor mats? Thanks
  4. I just got this magazine article in the mail today and thought it would be appropriate to scan it. According to this 1984 ad, T means Touring....
  5. Ed those GUIDE numbers will only show "79" for 79 to 83 cars and "84" for 84/85 cars. This denotes the first year of those. The Guide numbers never changed for the numbers inbetween. From what I know the 79 Riviera mirrors should all be the same. All 79's had the round mirrors - is that wrong?
  6. The rear spring rate for Riviera luxury was 108 and 125 for T-types. The only coil rate I could verify with aftermarkets were 126. I wonder what the rates are for the variable rate springs? Do those usually come measured in a range of rates?
  7. I'd have to ride in one to be convinced the ride is better than the smooth as glass original boulevard ride. ELC is suppose to keep things at the right height, one reason for sure is the clearance. According to a Hemmings article I read on the 79 Eldo new IRC. I don't understand how if you have any spring and non adjusting rear shocks how your car compensates for that added weight and doesn't either rub the tires inside the wheel wells or hit bottom in parking lots when you drive over speed bumps and or driveways into businesses with a sharp incline then a sharp decline in the driveway... ELC is a standard luxury option... I just don't understand why the route is always to changed this system up instead of fixing it. I wouldn't switch my power seats to manual just because they went out. Reminds me of all the talk on the 60-70-ish cars that people want to add everything original to that was once taken off in it's day
  8. UGH I've been in contact with one company who rebuilds these compressors and 2 other reputible companies who sells them new. I'm shocked that the rebuilder can not rebuild these and the other two companies don't have aftermarket replacment compessors. What's most shocking is they are repairing and selling these for every other Buick, Cadillac etc. Seriously how many 84 Centuries do you think are out there with level control? But if you want your car to jump up and down going down the road - NO problem- we have a product for you. I don't understand how if you don' t offer a product and don't take customer feedback then how do you know what the masses want? I have even tried to get these companies to try and match one up based on specs - and they are not the least bit interested. Where is the customer service today? Seems like no one wants to help out anyone if they can't look it up in a split second in the computer and find an exact match. Sorry just frustated. But I'll figure it out. I wonder what aftermarket manufactures use to decide what to produce and what not to.
  9. I would guess it's the air bags inside that get twisted and ruined in a vacuum situation.
  10. I can tell you that Gabriel aftermarket rear shocks for 79-85 Riviera will (should) come with a spring about the size of a redbull energy drink can. This spring is meant to replace the existing spring in your air dryer on your level ride compressor. Originally the spring in your dryer is configured to maintain a minimum air pressure of 15 to 20psi at all times in your rear shocks. The technical people at Gabriel have said if you do not replace the spring in your air dryer to their spring which has a minimum of at least 20psi -- if the minimum psi is not present or it leaks totally down and the car is driven around the inside of the shock will sort of do a hydralic lock, create a vacuum and twist the inside of the shock damaging it. I am not sure if this is the same for Monroes. And the ELC system has a pressure limit valve that will blow off at 90psi. Provided you don't have an air leak or your system does not leak down over time you should be good.
  11. Every so often I see a 90's model Regal with Gran Sport badging. Seems like they were painted similar to T-types, blacked out grills and such.
  12. So the Riv's had the electroluminescent lights without an invertor that ran off of 12v DC? I've always been told those were AC. Can electroluminescent lights run off of DC?
  13. I believe T stands for Touring......
  14. Tim, I have not found it yet. I looked in the 85 SM and 83 SM and didn't see it. The electrical section for my 84 is not complete. I was trying to supply this for an ROA member in FL who called me when his mechanic was trying to fix his. I already told him make sure your getting power to the invertor and power out of the invertor -- then it must be the bulbs. He already ordered two new ones from a company who's bought out all the extras GM had and are reselling them for $ig $ucks. I have a friend who's wanting to experienment with modern LED's and something else aftermarket, but he has to wait till I get a paint job and have to pull my old ones off. I actually remember seeing at least one 83/85 range Eldorado in salvage that had a regular bulb setup with what looked like fiber optic wound up behind a lens - but I have no idea it was already tore up when I found it. Thanks
  15. Just passing along info on a car for sale. Contact Stephen directly if interested cell is 214-668-8136 It is a 1964, white with blue leather interior and the 465 Wildcat engine. The car was originally purchased by my dad’s father and has been a single owned car from Idaho Falls. Dan’s dad went into a retirement home earlier this year so he has taken over ownership of the vehicle and is considering selling it if the right deal comes along. It was garage kept by his father and rarely left the garage after 1975. It is all original with roughly 80,000 miles. The only damage is on the driver rear quarter panel where Dan’s mom turned it into a pole. It looks like the repair work was not done very well and that panel and the trunk would need to be sanded and resprayed. My cell number is 214-668-8136 so feel free to contact me if there is any interest.<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p Stephen Hurston<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p E-Mail: Hurston@pbworld.com<O:p
  16. I need some help finding the diagnostic part for the electroluminescent outside side lights in either the 83 or 85 service manual. I can find in the index "Opera lights" listed for E body but when I look at the schematic it does not show an inverter or how to test it - and it shows the lights as being solid state. Interestingly enough if I look at the G Body schematic for Opera lights it shows the inverter and electroluminescent lights. Has anyone found the testing on these lights? I also thought that the rear seat reading lights were called Opera lights while the electroluminescent lights were called Coach lights. Maybe I have them wrong. The service manuals seem to use both of those to describe the same light. Thanks
  17. Any 79-85 Riv-Eldo-Toro will have the same 4 note horns, even some of the other Cadillac-Olds-Buicks of that era will have the same horn, IF that car was ordered with the 4 note horn. Just look inside the front fenders and see if you see two horns on each side. That is the 4 notes provided no one has replaced them with the wrong notes. You can also look in newer GM Luxury cars for them - again just look for a total of 4 horns.
  18. Those are 4 note horns. I have a set on a Chevy S-10 pickup! Like Ed said all 4 notes must be a different note.
  19. Has anyone ever removed one of these? I'm just wondering if they are easy taken off? I have one that someone has broke and need to snatch one off of my donor car and I don't have my manuals with me out of state. Thanks
  20. How could he? I'm gonna send him an email! lol
  21. Thank you I will contact both companies!
  22. Dynaflash8 - Yeah I guess the Riv bug is the only bug I didn't mind biting me I really enjoy them all!
  23. Great ! Please let us know how it turns out. You know there is a market for some 79-85 parts out there just screaming for someone to gobble it up!
  24. I've seen some sort of a cap to put over them on ebay but I have no idea how well it would work. Has anyone tried these?
