  1. James, mine was 'born' in Kansas City. Where was yours 'born'? Bob, Cars, Inc. has them at $15.50 a pop. I can't find them anywhere else online. They may be in someone's paper catalog.
  2. The front rod that hooks onto the hood ornament, each end has a O on each end to hold the sombrero. The back rod, each end hooks into the hood.... Where do the sombreros go on that rod... it's just a long curve. The parts car had them only on the front rod..... Mike, thanks for the help.
  3. How many sombreros are used to help hold up the insulation? I think 2.... Am I right? thanks, Earl
  4. And on the '55 that foot pedal pushes a rod, and that hits the starter rod.. and mine won't just copacetic...haha By the time we were finishing, it started to rain. I'll get a picture when I can.
  5. The last day the '55 Roady ran was Thanksgiving day, 2013---yes.. a few days short of nine months!! We had a cold, wet winter, and then when the weather became nicer, my health decided not to cooperate. One thing and another, and finally for the last couple of weeks or so, I've had a handyman helping me get caught up on things.. and Buddy happened to be very mechanical--and stubborn. He said he could start a mule if it had a steering wheel, and I sure believe him now. With calling Mike Middleton several times, the repair manual and some dumb luck along with Buddy, the car started up today. When you'd push the accelerator down, it made no sound. Everything else electrical worked. Today, the starter came off, worked fine off the car. Solenoids and relays checked, loose wires checked for and everything checked out fine. It had to be something in the push button, we figured. We were checking the switch behind the carby when Buddy, who could easily climb under the hood, spotted the problem. So, if you ever have a car that makes no noise in the starter, here's what you check. Behind the carb is not only a switch, but, where the floor pedal lever comes through the firewall. That lever pushes another which sets off the carb switch. The two rods were bypassing each other. That simple!!!, yet SOOOO difficult. So, everything works, and starter makes no noise, check the juncture of the two levers, and Buick knew this might be a problem sometime, there's an adjustment on the floor lever rod, and with that and a little bending, the old girl spoke today loud and clear!! I hope this helps someone one day when they are as lost as I was.
  6. My friend is ready to put the cloth top on his sedan and would like a good set of instructions if someone would be kind enough to write it out for him. My car had a good top on it, so, I have no idea exactly what to do myself. All help will be appreciated! thanks, Earl
  7. John, yes, I know many things are different, but the parts I need are the same. The tires, I'm going to keep, but the rims are up for grabs. I'll send you a pm.
  8. A friend and I were in Virginia the other day, and happened to have an empty trailer, and suddenly, this '55 Roady jumped on the trailer and wanted to move to NC. When you're a Buick guy, what can you say but yes.... sooo... I have one more now, but this one is for parts donation for the '55 Riviera and selling anything I can't use.... If you know of anything you want, let me know...
  9. Those holes are exactly what Mark said they were for. I saw an original body with curtains. I have no idea where you can find the cast iron top supports/lockdowns. No braces that rest between the supports when the top is down. I hope this helps.. Earl
  10. norzaks, if you will scroll further down there is a Buick section. I'm sure you will get a fast answer if you post there... I have a '55, but can't answer your question...
  11. John, I'm sending you a private message with contact information for Jerry. thank you, Earl
  12. I deleted the other post since I've found out more. The man needs all the front bumper parts, moustache, upper and lower bumpers... looks like it's in two parts, but maybe one... Doesn't need the 'teeth'. But will buy all if it only comes as a unit. Thanks, Earl
  13. Willie, I think it could be translated a couple of ways.....Argentina is major meat....Argentina is big meat....Or, I guess you could use a very, very loose translation, unlike those pants she has on which I think ain't loose noplace!!!!!
  14. Mr. Earl, you must be sorely tempted with that car sooo close to you!!! You could sell yours and buy this one.... About your daughter....does she come with a Buick? If so, I'm sure that would make her more tempting to the suitors who may be here!!! haha
  15. Well, if that don't gag a maggot, nothing will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Lamar, bring one for sure. The old Roady just leans like a ship in a storm when I round a corner. I've been wanting one and these will be a good opportunity to save a few bucks...and I do love to get a good deal...Just let me know where you will be. I'm judging so that's where I'll be on Saturday. Thanks a lot, Earl
  17. Lamar, wrong Gloria...and does Rita know you're keeping tabs on Gloria?????? Translation..... Thus passes the glory of this world....
  18. jeepman, did you get a pm from me?
  19. Sounds if you're having to talk him into in, he's not for it... if he wants a '55, let him get one... sounds simple to me. Different people want different things. I've got a car much closer to him, and much cheaper also....One I looked at, but the distance stopped me.
  20. Mr. Earl, I'm still waiting for the guys contact information...don't forget...
