  1. A friend has a 1966 F-100 pickup. He knows the tires are 15 inch, but that's all he knows... So.... What size tires go on the pickup... thanks, B
  2. And if you want to rebuild your original pump, you can get a rebuild kit from http://www.then-now.com/The_Cellar/cellar.htm Ask for Tom, he's very knowledgeable. Good luck, B
  3. 49, I agree, and then how much to fix it?.. even if it is a 12 cylinder.. says motor is rebuilt.....
  4. Anyone have some spare time.. check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1936-1408...1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. Well, I'm pretty sure it went to a club sedan, and in 1932 Packard used BASCO keys/locks. BASCO is Briggs and Stratton Company. What other years they used BASCO, I don't know. In 1932, Packard was a one key car, and I would think the trunk was keyed to match the key, so the car remained a one key car. Finding the years Packard used BASCO key/lock systems would be a good start.... If you'll go to the Packard Club..www.Packardclub.org, and look under Showroom..Automobiles, and go to 1934, and to the 11th picture down, you can see a very good shot of the back of a V12 club sedan with trunk. It's very similar to yours. You can see how the moulding on the side of the trunk fits to the rear fender. Find the matching curve, and you've got the car it goes with. Happy hunting, Earl

  7. What is the visual difference in nitro and acrylic lacquers?
  8. It's getting time to think of paint for the 901. It came in lacquer and is now wearing a 1970's repaint in lacquer, that has faded terribly. I'm not anxious to put the time and money in a paint job that will eventually look so bad. Any suggestions as to paint type? Clear coat/base coat? Acrylic lacquer? Those of you who have early '30s cars, what have you used and had great success with? thanks for the help, Earl
  9. Well, there is one Oldsmobile in the CCCA. "It is a 1937 Oldsmobile Salon Tourer, with body by Maltby of England. This one-off version of a 1937 Oldsmobile with a newly introduced semi-automatic four-speed "Automatic Safety Transmission" and what is believed to be the first power convertible top. It is the only Oldsmobile accorded classic status by the Classic Car Club of America."
  10. Hey 66... wanna double your money on that 12???? Got $50 cash in hand....and I'll even let you keep your battery!! hhahaha
  11. Tbird,, the $750 is what I'm trying to avoid.... I have soooo many more things to put that money on.. and much to my sorrow, I still haven't found that gold mine in my back yard... the only thing in the back yard so far is a money pit called Packard.... Your dash is beautiful for sure.. and your car is too, I saw pictures somewhere on here...
  12. Is there some way I can clean the center of the dash without ruining it? It is the engine turned section that holds the instruments. It looks like it's just dull... where the knobs and bezels were, it's more shiney and cleaner looking... thanks, Earl

    manifold studs

My original question has stalled, so I'll post it again with a different title.... What do I put on the end of the manifold stud that goes into the block? Some of the holes have a bottom, some go all the way through into someplace..not a mechanic.... What do I put on the studs?
  14. Tom, so far, no suggestions other than yours...keep checking like I'm doing.. haha...take care,
  15. Packin.. I put the plastic 'straw' that comes with liquid wrench type products, and in some of the holes it bottoms out, just enough room for the stud to go in, others there is no bottom.. a Packard better idea???? So, now, we're on the right track, and you're completely forgiven Owen... Do I put anything on the manifold studs such as gasket shellac, or anything????
  16. Thanks for the information,,everything helps but,,, what do I torque the manifold stud nuts to?
  17. Owen, thank you for a thorough answer.. but, you raised another question... What do I torque the nuts to?
  18. In reinstalling the studs which hold the manifolds to the block.... Should I put a bit of form a gasket on the end of the stud going into the block or not? I'm not a mechanic! Wish I were! thanks, Earl
