  1. I am trying to determine what the appropriate lubricant would be for the steering box/gear for a 1953 Pontiac. The owners manual says to use an "All-Season Steering Gear Lubricant" and the shop manual is of little help as well. What modern gear oil would be recommended?? Thanks in advance for any help- Dave.
  2. What would be the proper fluid or oil to use in the front shock absorbers of a 1937 Pontiac? Thanks in advance for any help. Dave.

  4. Fitz, My information is coming from "The Standard Catalog of Pontiac 2nd edition" by John Gunnell. 1st # = Assembly plant = C = California 2nd symbol = engine type = 8 = in line 8 cylinder 3rd symbol = model year = Z= 1954 4th symbol = type of transmission= H = Hydra-Matic Remaining symbol = production number for each car line at each assembly plant. Hope this helps- Dave.
  5. Bob, Knowing how successful your upgrade was, I'd be interested in the info for the electronic voltage regulator to use on my '37 touring sedan. Please advise as to what the name is, where to purchase etc. Thanks so much. Dave
  6. Jim, I have had very good success with Rhode Island Wiring. They have the correct gauge, color, and tracers for the wire you need. I believe they work directly from factory wiring diagrams. You can buy complete harnesses or individual supplies for your projects. Good phone communication. Take a look- www.riwire.com Good luck- Dave.
  7. keiser31 I am puzzled by your statement that the air cleaner fits inside the throat of the carb and will have a question to follow. We both participated in a thread on the Technical Forum entitled Carter BB1-D updraft adjustment. In that thread hwellons provided a technical bulletin for Carter updraft carbs. If you maximize the picture of the air cleaners used on Carter carbs you will notice a clamp on the outside flange. Question- Based on your statement, what good is the clamp if the air cleaner fits inside the throat of the carb? Dave
  8. huptoy, Just measured the outside diameter- it is 2.28". From the pictures I have the shape is correct with the number of louvers. Can anyone else help with one that will work?? Thanks- Dave.
  9. huptoy, Thanks for the info- will follow up quickly. Dave
  10. Hello, I would like to buy an air cleaner for a Carter BB1 carb. I would prefer No. 90-15S but can also use No. 90-14S. If possible please send a photo of the air cleaner and price. Thank you. Dave

  12. yirgaman, I have been looking for a picture of an air cleaner/filter which is used with a Carter BB1 updraft carb. Since you are using this carb, could you please post a photo of the air cleaner. Thank you- Dave.
  13. I am in the process of replacing a pot metal Marvel carb which has increasing deterioration with a Carter BB1 on a 1929 vehicle. Could someone provide a photo of the type of air filter they are using with the Carter? Thanks in advance for your help. Dave.

  16. Daniel, I believe I still have the UR2 but I had taken it apart and I'm sure it is still in pieces. I'll look for that box and get some photos together if you are interested. Dave.
  17. Diceman, If you have a Master Parts catalog look in the accessory parts section under group #8.175. You will find a picture and description of the rear skirt. Dave.
