  1. I just expected to see a bunch of brass and pre war cars when I saw the name antique though my post was some what tonque in cheek. Iy was just my perception of the use of the word antique in a car show title. Antique cars where way before my time You typically see more of the word "classic" which can start its own debate. You know 1974 was just yesterday Just to let you know where my mindset is. My 1st "antique" car was a 64 T-Bird which I just sold. Then I bought a 55 Chevy pickup. Then I bought a 32 Packard and I just purchased a 1912 Cadillac. I am running out of years to purchase in the current direction I'm going.
  2. Great pictures. Thanks. I found it interesting seeing the relatively late era (In automobile time) of the cars at the show that the car club chosed to used the word antique to describe the show

I can tolerate those questions. The ones I get tired of are: 1. How much is it worth? 2. I know a friend who knows afriend who had an old car something like this

It's not bad having a large picture, just makes it hard to read the forum thread. You probably need a picture program to resize these pictures for them to be a more uniform size, unless one came with your computer. Probably wouldn't cost more than $30.00. W. </div></div> Easier way to do this is to right click on the file you want to reduce in the file explorer. Then select from the menu send to mail recipient. A dialog box wil come up asking what size. Pick 640X480 or another size. It will then generate an email in outlook with the reduce file as an attachment. Just copy the file attachement in the email to your desire file folder. Close the email. Picture reduced for free! Please send me $30

    Wire Wheel Covers

Bill Hirsch has good reproductions....but he starts at 32 and up. Maybe he would consider making earlier ones.

    Shiny Chrome

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 51Patty400</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Amazing what Photoshop can do ;-) Just kidding. It's like a mirror. I hope mine comes out as nice. - Mark </div></div> The reflection of the blue sky really shows off the chrome. Also I assume the camera help quite a bit though they were freshly chrome plated last year. I'm shining up everything on the car this week for a small Concours locally, Forest Grove. I understand that the Forest Grove Concours committee is bringing in a Pebble Beach car, 34 V12 Phaeton, in my class minus the owner. It will be shown by someone else. So I figure to even come close to competing, I have to be spic and span. Anyway cleaning the car good once a year is not a bad think to do. Just got done underneath the car last night. Thank goodness for a lift. Now I can lower the car and start cleaning the car. That's the neat thing about a lift. You can sit in a chair and wax the sides of the car. No, I'm not lazy, just efficient
  10. The boxer was the a very mellow dog who did the entire tour though in a modern car.

    Shiny Chrome

I found this picture of a 1932 Packard's chrome on the internet. My first thoughts was I wonder how that guy got his chrome so shiny. Then I realized that it was my Packard the photographer had taken the picture of:D
  12. Here are pictures of the 2008 Packards Tour Oregon event that was just held recently.
  13. Looking good. Looks like you could take your doors to a local car show and win under construction I could never have the patience like you and do a whole car at once.
  14. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 1935Packard</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Wow! Great pictures. </div></div> And yes that is snow behind the cars. The slopes were jam packed with snowboarders despite it being the end of June.
  15. I get about a 1/4 tan to every time the gargae door goes up I probably get anywhere from 8-10 mpg with my 32.
  16. So he didn't give a price for just the faces to be restored? $2K sounds like the entire gauge restored, but I don't know if he would just do the gauges. Though for $2K you would have great looking gauges. Bruce is one of those craftsmen who never advertizes, but always has a mile long line of customers. He takes great pride in his work. I happen to be fortunate that he is close to where I live.
  17. I've got an issue with my NOS wiper motors. They work fine when I have no arm or blade attached, but when you add the tension of the arm and the blade against the glass, they struggle to work. I'm working with the guy who sold me the motors and arms, but was wondering if anyone else ran across this and has a quick fix...except don't drive in the rain.
  18. I know where you can have them restored. Be prepared for 10-12 months wait though excellent work. I expect if all you wanted faces redone, he could do them quicker. I first had acquired some repos for my 32 Packard. They were fine if you didn't care how inaccurate they were. I then bit the bullet to get them done like the originals. Abbott Instrument Restoration 10860 Sw 74th Ave, Portland, OR 97223-2705, United States Phone: (503) 246-1287
  19. For what it's worth, I have about 1K miles on the car with the new porcelain manifold from Prairie and it still looks excellent.
  20. Well Steve Babinsky restored my Bijur pump so I guess I can now call my car a "Steve Babinsky" restoration Sounds more impressive than a Tbirdman Restoration.
  21. West, I saw that one also with a incorrect engine and this one also has an incorrect dash. It also had a lot of incorrect not to mention the wire/tube tie wrapped to the radiator supports. SUpposely this was done by Hill and Vaughn who I always assumed was a top notch restoration shop. Interesting is that this black engine car and the previous blue engine car looked like they both had very decent porcelain manifolds which I would expect.
  22. When can you sign up for the August 2009 Glidden tour?
  23. I never even got close to looking at the upholstery. The restorer must had extra blue paint left. But then to paint the distributor red. Must had wanted it to look like an MSD distributor
  24. Here's a first...a blue Packard engine! Saw this 32 Packard on Ebay that supposely was restored 5 years ago. Whoever did it, though stock, paid no attention to details as it has a blue engine with a red distributor and a dash void of any woodgraining.
