  1. Well, I'm confused <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

    '69, '70 and '71 (exc. F85) use a 554888 regulator.

    '72 thru '75 A,B,C & E bodies use the same 554888 regulator.

    '70 F85s use a 6466184 transducer (less tubing).

    '71 F85s use a 25030711 transducer.

    '70 thru '73 A,B,C & E bodies use a 25030712 transducer.

    So, '72 & '73 A,B,C & E use a regulator AND a transducer?

But at any rate, that should illustrate that a 442 uses a different regulator/transducer, at least in part number. I don't know about appearance.

Or maybe not. I just read this again, and I'm more confused now than before.

  2. Interesting...

I checked my Service Guild last night and there is nothing in there about the anti-spin. I guess since they printed a supplemental manual they didn't feel the need to have anything in the Guild. Too bad they didn't list the shaft length in the manual. But definitely only 2 listings for shafts in the '63 parts book.

  3. What year book is that? My '63 book has a LH & RH listing for '57 & '58 exc. air suspension, and another listing for '58 with air suspension. No different listing for posi for '57 or '58. Ditto for '59 to '63, btw.

'58 Anti Spin supplement manual only says that air suspension cars used shafts that were 1/2" longer and that they can't be used in conventional suspension cars, and vice versa.

Also says that a '57 car can be converted to anti-spin by swapping out the carrier. Says nothing about changing axles.

I'll have to check my Service Guilds. Maybe there's something about axle length in there.

  4. I do not have the lengths, but '57 and '58 Olds axle shafts are the same, regardless of posi or open rear, except for '58s with New Matic suspension, which are 1/2" longer than conventional suspension shafts. LH & RH are different part numbers, but I don't know that the difference is in the length. Shafts came throught parts with studs already installed and we all know the left side is reverse thread. When I had the axle rebuilt in my '62, it came back with the shafts switched. We just switched them back. They are interchangable 'cept for the studs. But maybe '57 and '58 are different lengths left and right.

  5. Boy, am I skating on thin ice in regards to non-Olds content on this one...

I made a similar modification to my '05 Magnum a few months ago. My side markers did not blink at all (I think). Now, they blink with the turn signals when the lights are on, and alternate with the turn signal when the lights are off.

Modification was as simple as switching two wires in a connector. More information here:

I would think your Buick would be similar. At least explains the theory behind it.

  6. I was told the Courtyard had rooms, just not at the special OCA rate. But that was a month ago, so the situation may have changed. For those interested, on the way home from Dallas last year I stayed at a very nice Microtel a little bit away from the show site, right off the interstate. Cracker Barrel within walking distance. Took me maybe 5 minutes to get to the show site.

  7. Must be dealing with a Cutlass of some sort, since we've got SSII wheels...

    Four-Season Air Conditioning - C60

    Power Side Windows - A31

    Deluxe Pushbutton Radio - U63

Power Brakes with Front Disc - JL2

325hp Rocket 400 V-8 Engine - L31, but if you are dealing with a 442 this engine was standard. L31 was only optional on Vista Cruisers.

    Turbo Hydra-matic 400 transmission - M40

Strato Bucket Seats - A51, again on a 442 these were standard

Super Stock II wheels - N66

    Anti-Spin Rear Axle - G80

3.42 Heavy-Duty High Performance axle - G92, this option was not available with air conditioning

Code for Aztec Gold is J and is found on the data plate.

Interior trim code is also found on the data plate.
