  1. Those hubcaps are Oldsmobile Fiesta spinners. First used on '53 Fiesta convertibles, then used on other '53, '54 and '55 Oldsmobiles. Do a search on eBay and see what they are selling for before you give them away for a set of Chrysler caps. You may be better off selling them and buying a Chrysler set. I don't know what Chrysler caps are worth, but I'm guessing the Fiestas are worth more.

  2. Regencys first came out in '72 to celebrate Oldsmobiles 75th anniversary. They were all painted the special gold color you mentioned. They had special keys and key fobs from Tiffany's in addition to the Tiffany clock and had the special black loose pillow look interior. Starting in '73 the Regencys were regular production models available in any color. The last year to use the Regency name was 1990, I think. After that they were just known as Ninety Eights.

  3. Good. Now that you've found it, don't be alarmed if you don't have the bleed valve that is shown in the schematic. Bleed valves were only used on earlier cars. Later cars used a sintered metallic plug instead of the bleed valve. And, many early cars were updated to the plug and the bleed valve was eliminated. That involved some vacuum hose re-routing. If you don't have a bleed valve, let me know and I can tell you what hose changes there are.

  4. There is a separate Comfortron manual that was printed in 1965 and 1966. I think it has more information than the standard shop manual. In the '66 Comfortron manual there is a separate section in the back for Toronado. I used this manual many times when working on my '67 98 and '67 Toro and was always able to find the problem and get the system working. I haven't used that manual for many years. I'll have to look for it.

  5. For starters, if your engine is stock, it is a 394, not a 374. This may cause some confusion because some of the Dynamic 88s used a 371 in '60. Engine parts are available from Kanter.

    A good source of transmission parts is Dave Edwards.

    For brake and other mechanical parts, weatherstrips, etc. try Fusick Automotive or USA Parts Supply. Fusick is also a source for some NOS parts, although they don't have the inventory that they used to.

    If there are things that you are specifically looking for I would suggest eBay. There's always a variety of used and NOS stuff on there - new stuff on a daily basis. I also suggest joining the Oldsmobile Club of America and the National Antique Oldsmobile Club. Both have provisions for overseas membership and one of the perks is free monthly advertising. You can run ads in the parts wanted section for things that you are looking for.

    I believe there is also an Oldsmobile Club of Australia. Andy Pope would be the gentleman to get in contact with. He's got a '62 Starfire.

    If you run web searches for the above things, you should get all the information you need.

  6. I'm assuming by your ID that you are working on the motor in a '63 98. First, that car has a 394, not a 396. Second, those valves are not adjustable. If you've got clicking you've got a lifter (or a cam) problem. There is a good Olds mechanic in G-burg - Kerm Shindledecker @ Kerm's Auto Repair. (717) 334-6882. Give him a call and see what he knows about 394s.

  7. The '68 that I had still used the warranty book with the address-o-graph. The warranty book was longer (length wise) than it was in previous years and the vin was computer punched into one end of the book, through both covers and all internal pages.

    I don't really recall. Tempted to say not. Not exactly sure what should be padded on a '62. I'm pretty sure the Guide-Matic was mounted to metal on the dash.

    '61 is the earliest Address-o-graph warranty book that I have. I'm thinking it was the first year for it. They used the address-o-graph up through '68, then switched to the plastic cards in '69. My '72 Cutlass had a plastic card. In '73 they went to the hand written warranty folders.

  10. So, you like oddly optioned vehicles, huh?

    Just returned from a small regional Vintage Chevrolet Club show being held at a local hotel. One of the entries was a Fawn Beige Metallic '62 Biscayne 2-door post sedan. It had poverty hubcaps and blackwall tires. No trim rings. It was some sort of V8 with an automatic and power steering and brakes. Other equipment was Guide-Matic automatic headlamp dimmer, Cruise Control and blower-style rear window defogger.

    BTW, nice find on that Vista Cruiser.

  11. Yeah, Glenn, they did have Boyne & Delco (Guide), but that doesn't seem to apply in this case.

    '66 with tilt/tele & cornering lamps uses a 1993667. This is the switch located at the bottom of the column, not the actuator behind the steering wheel. 1993667 was discontinued in November of '79. That would explain why I had trouble getting one back in the early 90s. I ended up resorting to a junkyard switch. But we didn't have the internet then...

    Their inventory hasn't been updated since February 26th.

    A web search turned up a place called B D Enterprises, but it looks a few years old (2003) and the price was $1.00, which can't be right.

  12. Right here it is - option U75 power front fender antenna. $32 on 88s, 98s, Custom Cruisers and Toronados. For $32, who wouldn't have ordered one!? I would imagine if Olds had them, the other divisions did, too.

    I stupidly thinned out my sales literature collection from this era. Haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. '71 and '73 Buick brochures make no mention of power antennas. I've got a Buick parts book printed in '72 and it lists no power antenna parts after 1969. '75 Cadillac brochure shows it as being standard, even on the Calais. The '75 Chevrolet brochure only says that factory installed radios include windshield antennas. Pontiac brochures from '74, '75 and '76 also make no mention of power antennas. I used to work for a Pontiac dealer and the owner had a cranberry '75 Grand Ville convertible. I thought that car had a power antenna. Maybe I'm wrong.

    Roland's car is a very rare radio delete 98. There was discussion about it, including the eBay link, in the Buick forums recently. I think we should encourage him to leave it the unique radio delete car that it is. I wouldn't even want to try and add a radio to this one, if there is not already wiring and speakers in place. And what about an antenna? They were in the windshield then. You'd (ok, I'd) have to install a correct power antenna.

    It also does NOT have the optional bumper rub strips.

  14. That's a good question about the radio delete. There's probably a power feed from the main harness, but that's it. Most likely no speaker(s) and no speaker wiring. Also, these are the years when the non-power antennas were imbedded into the windshield glass. May not also have all the static suppression equipment that is required. He might be in for more of a project than he realizes.

    They must have has a power antenna available in '73, because the parts book lists a power antenna mast for 88, 98 and Toronado.

    You couldn't delete them, as they were not standard. Option VE5 was the Protective Front and Rear Bumper Rub Strip package - a $24 option on all 98 models. Funny, they were standard on the 88 Royale...
