I just looked at your webpage. Your '62 doesn't have the full dash pad, and has the single bar window cranks.
I'll have to look in my Olds and Chevy parts books and see if the standard arm rest bases share part numbers.

(K-5) - Custom Luxury Trim
For Dynamic 88 models in a single package option:
1. Safety-Padded Instrument Panel with extended cover
2. 1 ¾-inch Foam-Padded Front Seat Cushion
3. Chrome-base arm rests, front and rear
4. De Luxe door and window regulator handles
5. Dual rear quarter lamps (Holiday Coupe and Holiday Sedan)
6. Rear door courtesy lamp switches (Holiday Sedan).........................................................................................................................................$38.74
K-5 should be indicated on the Fisher Body tag on the firewall. The key indicator would the dash pad - it either goes the whole way to the windshield, or it is just along the leading edge, in line with the dash end caps. Also the window cranks handles would have two thin bars instead of one solid bar.
I don't know if the armrests would be the reflector style. I think they might just be chromed rather than interior color.

Does the D88 have the K5 Custom Luxury trim option?

Well, since he's looking for one from a Plymouth dealer, and preferably one from Ohio, I think he's after the nameplate and not just the screws.
Here's another eBay seller with some listed:

OK, here he is. Right now he's not selling anything, but if you click on completed items, you'll see some of the badges that he has sold.

I don't know what the technical name for them is, but I'd call it badge. There's a guy who sells these frequently on eBay. I'll have to see if I can find him.

412129 is a front insert for '73 Olds 88/98 with VE5 rub strip option
554769 changed to 561402 and is the front insert for '77 to '79 Olds 88/98
558525 changed to 561242 which changed to 561402. At first that didn't make sense, but I'll bet one was for the optional bumper guards and the other was for without. One probably replaced the other. I might be able to find a home for one of those.

GM catalog history says that 8906034 used to be 6297115, which fits 68-72 pickups.

I work in a GM dealer's parts department. I forget not everyone on the forum knows that. That who "we" is.

GM part #9666748
You'll have to pop them on the stud ball, which can be difficult. I've been told heating them in water helps.
We also stock an aftermarket roller which is already on a stud. The stud has to be peened over or riveted to the regulator arm.

Glenn,
All part of my Comedy of Errors trip to the NAOC Nationals. I should write a book. Too much to go into here. Look for me at 7 Springs and I'll fill you in. I should write a book. This car is hexed, and affects everyone associated with it. It's been trouble since Day One, literally.

I'll be there Friday and Saturday. No car. My car is in Arizona.
With a dead battery.
And the (power) windows down.
Oh, and it's raining...
-
Well, thanks for putting the pressure on me, Glenn. Remember what they say about paybacks...
Truth be told, I parted one of these out about 2 years ago and removed all that trim. I remember those plastic nuts in the trunk, but don't remember what was ahead of that. Seems to me you'd have to remove the interior panels to get at the forward retainers. I seem to recall the retainers above the wheel wells either being very far front in the trunk, or very far rear from the interior panels.
My car is not with me, so i can't go take a look. And the parts car is long gone.
I slid my moldings off. I tapped them until the first clip disengaged from the cut-out on the back of the molding. That gives you enough that you can grab hold of the molding and carefully slide it off. Then you can see where all the clips are and how they are retained. I think in order to do that I had to have the moldings off of the doors first.

Ernie,
There was an 80 series in '39, but it was replaced by the 90 Series (also called the Custom 8 Cruiser) for '40.

I saw your trunk pictures in your other post. Those look like factory center guards to me.
Paul

Possibly a factory accessory not shown in the brochure. If you look at the photo of the gray '40 they use for that gallery, it has a factory center guard on the front. The rear one should be hinged to get into the trunk.
Also, check:
Maybe you've got a grille guard with the bars missing? Or, maybe you've got something aftermarket.

If you send me a private message with your name and address, I'll send you a sample copy of our magazine. It would really be a good idea for you to join, as the classified section is a great source for finding parts. Members are entitled to free adverstising. There's also a bunch of '40 guys in our directory - a great networking tool.
Maybe Santa Claus will sign you up for Christmas...

Oldsenough - what does the serial number start out with? That is the key to what you have.

We could use a young fella like him in the NAOC. We are always trying to encourage young people like him to join and become involved. He could bring it to the National Meet next year in Lansing - as is. The club members would love it.

My source says the K in Group 2 is indeed for air conditioning.
Paul
-
Wow. You know everything, don't you?
I didn't get it squared away. The car is still in Arizona.
Paul
-
I didn't know you were at Prescott. Did you have a car registered? How 'bout that '64 98 LS?
Paul
-
I don't have my stuff in front of me. I can tell you that K is an option in the 2nd group (2K). The first group never has a number in front of it for some reason. Groups 2,3,4 and 5 always have the number in front, and the letters following are the options in that group. But I can't tell you what the K is right now. Glenn could very well be right. I've got to get myself out of Arizona in order to find you the answer.

There's a guy parting out a '65 over in the buy/sell forum.

1962 D88 Arm Rest Base
in Oldsmobile - Technical
Posted
I wanted to bring my Olds parts book to work today, but I forgot. Our '74 edition Chevrolet parts book doesn't have listings for just the bases. It lists the entire armrest assembly, color coded, and only lists black, red and fawn for certain models. I guess the other model/color combinations were used by '74 - typical of trim parts.
It kind of hard to tell from the photos of your car, but your's look to be similar to the ones that Impalas used, because the armrests were longer and the door handles are hidden. The Bel Airs had shorter armrests and the handles were exposed. And the Biscaynes had short armrests with two piece bases.
The only '62-'64 Impala armrest they list is a black one for the right side. Part #4352138. I know Olds didn't have black in '62, but they might have in '63, which my Olds book covers. If the base and material were the same, I'd say the Olds book should have the same number. But if Olds used a different grain of vinyl on the armrest than Chevy did, then we'll have a different number.
