I had a '72 Cutlass, and I seem to recall Ebony Black as not being a standard color available on Cutlasses (or maybe that was just convertibles...). I'll have to check my trim book.

Not a '41 Olds. Judging by the shape of the top and the crease on the front fender, I'm inclined to say '41 Ford or '41 Mercury.

Just like the one I used to have, 'cept mine had a maroon landau top.
Yeah, that exhaust has to go...

It was buried in those body parts and accessories catalogs I've accumulated. For something I thought would be of little use, they have come thru on a lot of obscurities. That DTX code has something to do with hydraulic power top and windows too, more than just indicating Deluxe 88.
Glenn,
I thought 'Top' was the code for the convertible top, and ACC was any applicable accessory codes.

Top ACC indicates a Hydro-Lectric power top
Glenn? Where did you get that from?
Maize Cream with a red/white interior. That's an interesting combination.

I won't say you won't see a wagon at the OCA Nationals in Sturbridge, but I'd say the chances are better of seeing one at the NAOC National Meet in Lansing next month. I'll check to see if we have any registered.
We get fewer cars at the NAOC meet, but they are all prior to 1966.
Info on the meet, and the club, is available in the link my signature line.

Hey, that's a nice one! My grandmother's was Willow Gold, and was a Town Sedan, but it had that same interior. I remember it well.

Mailed my registration this morning. The Starfire and I will be leaving from PA on July 1st. Heading to Chicago first. Then leaving for Lansing on Tuesday.
I believe there will be quite a few '62 Starfires in Lansing. Kevin Korff's is registered. And I'm assuming Kalkas will be there.

GM's technical term is coupling flange. Part number varies depending on tilt wheel option.

And, make sure you get a '61 manual as well as a '62. The '62 is a supplement to the '61 and will only cover things that changed. There are a lot things covered in the '61 manual that are not in the '62.

'62 Starfires used a pile carpet called Tahiti. I don't know if '61s used this carpet or not. '61s seem to be a little more special than the other years. 61Starfire would know, because he's got both years.

I agree with the '53-'54 Chevy. Other wheel is '54-'55 Cadillac. 100% certain.

Sounds like a new-car announcement invitation. Oldsmobile offered them to all of their dealers who were willing to purchase them to send to their customers. They show up regularly on eBay.

Here is a link to a photo of the correct mirror...

Also... Dave, I noticed your car has mirrors on both sides. The driver's side mirror was optional on your car, and the passenger's side mirror was never available. I'm thinking maybe someone added mirrors after your car was purchased.

The mirror Fusick sells for '61 and '62 full size cars has the vertical grooves. '63 to '66 mirrors have the concentric rings. They don't offer a mirror for '61 or '62 F-85 models, but their '63 to '66 F-85 mirrors have the rings.

I did a little research on that and it looks like Chevrolet only offered the Plum interior on the Caprice. The Caprice used the same headliner material as the '66 and '67 Toronados (all those pairs of two little diagonal holes). One of the big Chevrolet parts houses offers such a Caprice headliner, but in a color they call Maroon, which probably is not the shade you are looking for, as they also offered a Maroon on the Impala models.
Have you tried SMS?
Have you considered buying Parchment material and having it dyed?

That transmission is not a Slim Jim, or Roto-Hydramatic. I'm guessing it is a Jetaway based on:
It's air cooled. A Slim Jim would be liquid cooled.
Ring gear on the fluid coupling. Jetaways had two fluid couplers - one internal and one external. A Slim Jim only has one coupler and it's internal. A Slim Jim would have a flywheel-looking thing, and a damper plate, in place of the external fluid coupler.
Additionally, a Slim Jim wouldn't have that square bump on the side.
It is entire possible to put a 394 in front of a Jetaway. Jetaways came out in '56 and were used through '60. The 394 came out in '59 and was used through '64. So the 394s were mated to both the Jetaway and the Slim Jim.
Your starter housing appears to be for a Slim Jim, which is why it doesn't fit.

They offered the Roto-Hydramatic, and a synchromesh. That was it. There was one Roto for the 394 in the big cars, and another smaller one for the F-85s.

Once again, a '64 Starfire exhaust manifold is not necessary to put duals on a '62. The factory used the same manifolds for single and dual exhausts in '61 and '62. The difference is in the pipe routing and the cap on the passenger side.

I am thinking we have a member in the NAOC with a Dynaflow equipped '53 Olds. Now the problem is figuring out who it is...
