  1. Hi guys. I'm interested in getting a set of licence plates restored. I've seen some services in ads in the antique car mags. A good search also turns up a ton of services. Prices seem all over the place. My plates are not rare, but they are going on a restored car. Can anyone recommend someone that does it right? Thanks Bryan
  2. Is that the single piston ones? My Dad has one of those he might be interested in selling.
  3. I put a double arrow light on the front bumper of my model A. Looks nice and period correct. These lights are out there. I bought mine at hershey for $40. After sandblasting, rewiring and painting it works like new. Also check ebay, they are on there all the time.
  4. There are more than three companies making batteries. Deka is one of them, and is a family owned company. I've had good luck with them.
  5. 1961 is my favorite. I agree about them being underappreciated. The Hopefully it stays that way so I can get one some day. A same era Chrysler is worth about 3 times what a lincoln is.
  6. I lucked out with my 74 Ford F-100, which I am the third owner. the owners card was still in the glovebox with the orginal owners name and address on it. I took a chance and looked in our local phone book, and he still lived at the same address. I called him and told him how nice the truck was, he said, it should have been, I traded it in 1975 - it used too much gas! I've only had luck with penn dot after getting my state representative involved. I would go to their office first to find out if it is possible or not. I would love to see year of manufacture plates be allowed here in PA. It would be really cool if enough people could get together to pay a lobbiest make that happen.
  7. boy I'm shocked at the low prices of those rolls royce cars. The model A prices seemed about right, or maybe a little low. Were they just not in good condition?
  8. I'm looking at a EH touring. As i've mentioned in other threads, I'm looking for a nice 6 cylinder touring for my family, and I might have found one. What do you think a nice older restoration is worth with all this current flux? I was thinking around 17K. I guessing it's probably not worth what a model a phateon is worth.
  9. thanks guys for your input. I'll likely get the information & see what I can correct.
  10. Are judges allowed to look at the cars before the judging starts and use the judging manual as a reference book before the juding actually starts? This happened to me at hershey this year. I finally asked the man, who was wearing his judges hat and carrying the clipboard, Are you judging? which he indicated no, but they were about to start. I don't want to sound like sour grapes because I didn't get my senior. I kind of feel like my car was "pre judged" before using the rulebook as a checklist. Wondering what other peoples feelings about this is.
  11. thanks. I want to see that event this year. looking forward to it.
  12. I think if we all have fun with our cars the "problem" of an aging hobbie will take care of itself. My wife and I were on an AACA tour this summer. We are 36. Everyone was super nice, friendly and fun. It didn't matter to my wife and I that we were younger than everybody else. We had an absolute blast. We learned a lot and met a lot of new friends. If all of the AACA is run like that tour, you will have people beating down the door to get a membership.
  13. Does anyone know when the highwheeler race is? I seem to remember it was on Friday, but wanted to double check. Also what time. Thanks
  14. Nice looking car. how many horsepower is it. I'm looking for a touring car but was leaning towards a larger buick. Bryan Grube
  15. That's pretty neat. I wish someone would reproduce some of these bodies for people to make their own speedsters. Hopefully some day I'll build one. Thing is it seems cheaper to build one already done. The ones available now don't really look that authentic. Had that been in someone's collection as an unfinished project?
  16. Goes to show you can't take it with you. Hopefully he had fun with it while he was alive. It would be nice to see the cars and motorcycles out on the road where they belong. Not burried and rusting away. Same goes for parts. Hopefully everyone who needs a correct part can get one out of this sale. Just my opinion.
  17. Hi, interested in learning more about the car. I sent an email to your address. Please let me know a time that I could call you.
  18. I met Dennis a few years ago when I had my then 13 model T touring at the America on Wheels auto muesum. He admitted he didn't know too much about them, but was intriged and was impressed that such a young guy had a car like that. We had a nice brief conversation & I had my picture taken with him. I think these shows only exist because of ratings, and the advertisers who pay to keep the show on the air. If they can sell more auto insurance (or what ever) to street rod guys, then to antique car guys then that's where the script of the shows are going to go, to get those guys to tune in. It would be interesting to see, out of all the car guys in the country, how many are into customs compared to 100 % correct restorations. My guess if as barrett jacksons and the auto TV shows have put more rods and muscle cars on, there must be more of them then of us. Hemmings for example seems to be doing a good job on trying to put a new spin on antique car mags, which I really appreciate. I think if anyone should do a show it should be them. So I just focus in on what I like, and shut off the rest. Maybe better yet, I'll go for a ride in the model A or go work on something in the garage. It's probably time better spent.
  19. Hi, I'm interested in a 25 buick master touring car, and I'll be going to look at it in a few weeks. Is there any general issues with this model, or things I should look out for? Also, would anyone know how long one of these are? Thanks Bryan
  20. Steve, I sent you a PM with my email address. Thanks Bryan
  21. Looks like a nice looking car. Is this a six cylinder? When would be a good time to call, if it's a six I have a few questions. I'm on the east coast. Thanks Bryan
  22. There's a 24 touring on ebay right now with a pretty low asking price. I have some experience with model T's, and this seems kind of low compared to a T at under 10K. Are there any drawbacks to these cars, other than I would imagine there are limited parts supplies left.
  23. I registered my model A for hershey this year. I put it down as "do not judge" because it's an older restoration, but at the urging of some people I have changed my mind and want it judged. I remember seeing somepleace that I need to write a letter to VP of class judging or something like that to get it changed. Can someone help me out with what I need to put in the letter, who it needs to go to (name and address) or maybe an email address. Or a link to where on this site I can find it. Email would be a lot easier. Thank you very much in advance for your help!! Bryan Grube
