  1. Barry, Next time you're in Ann Arbor with it, you should pull into this restaurant.

  3. What a perfect weekend for the Dream Cruise this year!! I really enjoyed walking around with my boys looking at all the great muscle cars and hot rods. I found my friend, Steve Pasteiner at his Auto Zone store in Birmingham. He asked me to move his Corvette Nomad, to which I obliged. Of course, it took me a couple of hours to find just the right parking spot, which ended up being about 20 feet from where I started.
  4. Being that big, it can't be anything a manufacturer would have put on it. Sounds like a shade-tree, dime-store item to me. But... if you show a picture...
  5. It may be the type of car that for those who like them, and have them, they hold on to them for a long time. I also don't see many come up for sale, but when they do, it may be done by word of mouth. If you really want one, you may have to get involved with a Studebaker or Avanti club, rub elbows with the owner of one, nudge him a few times, and tell him that if he ever wants to sell the car, you're interested.
  6. I'm guessing $30K would buy you about as good an Avanti as there is.

I'm going to have to go back to humor school.
  8. It's a very hard finish, but I can't say if it cracks easily or not. If Eastwood says it's okay with springs, I'm sure it's fine. You might want to test it first, to see if it's something you want to use. Don't leave it in your gun too long, or you'll be buying a new one.

I have been considering joining... If I did join, what would I have to do and what are some of the benefits?</div></div> Joe I've got more information for you. As a member, you don't HAVE to do anything, unless you want to have fun. 1. As someone who is in the process of restoring automobiles, how does FREE research from the AACA's fabulous librarian sound? Send me your address (StelvioGT @ yahoo.com) and I'll send you a current issue of our magazine.
  10. I agree, Barry. I wouldn't be going, except the boys really like it. As an out-of-towner, it's an adventure for them.
  11. My friend who owns a 1938 Buick says the chrome ring is part of the taillight housing.
  12. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: BREH</div><div class="ubbcode-body">All 37's were body color. All 38's were chrome.</div></div> ???? Based on factory photographs, 1938 taillights were painted, except for the chrome bezel around the lens. I think the bezel is a seperate piece (it is on my Packard).
  13. Yes, your dogs are free, but only after buying the AA editor a hamburger.
  14. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: sdbraverman</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Did you like it? Will the AACA judges like it? </div></div> I don't know if AACA judges would like it or not. I don't have my car judged. If done properly, I don't know how they would know. There are different sheens available. I also used it on an old pop-up camper chassis that had a bunch of surface rust on it. I brushed off the flakes and applied the Chassis Black, and it held up very well.
  15. Joe With a garage like that, I don't think it will be long before the path to it is well travelled with antique car buffs! As Novaman says, there are a lot of us young guys interested in wood spokes, wire wheels, and lever shock absorbers. Besides for the great people in the AACA and its magazine (we can send you a complimentary issue, if you PM your address to me), we are getting ready to announce a whole list of benefits that will make it more than worth your while to join. In fact, it would seem outright rediculous to NOT to join.
  16. That would be... the Horseless Carriage Club?
  17. Here it is, the first photo. Just finishing up putting the engine back together. Didn't quite make it for the New London/New Brighton Antique Car Run that was held last week, but my father's two cars made it: his 1905 REO and his 1911 leZebra.
  18. Hey!!! This is one car that looks better with the hood up!
  19. Why does it seem like this Post got started in the middle of something? What "copies" are we talking about?
  20. Hey, is that Sterling Moss? I can attest that the paint's not flat. I had the pleasure of driving Barry's car last weekend. Wow, was it ever smooth (driving and looking). Looking down that long dark hood with nary a wave was REALLY elegant. Thanks for the thrill, Barry. I'll put you behind the driver's seat of my Packard next month.
  21. Okay, bad joke gone awry. My boss told me not to do this anymore. The Brush belongs to two of my brothers, but the axle is not broken. I believe, from the looks of Steve Braverman's photo, that the Franklin's chassis REALLY IS broken. There. I'm clean.
  22. Bob If you do it in the home kitchen, is there any tell-tale left behind that would throw up a red flag when (put your wife's name here) arrives home? What kind of smell does it leave?
  23. I've used it. It's as hard as a rock. Not sure how it would withstand the flexing of springs.
