  3. Hey GmP, Try using 63-64 Buick/ Impala buckets. It keeps it in the Buick Family and they are really comfy. Also, I think you ought to try using original upholstery from a 55 in the 63 pattern. That is what I would do at least. Also, even slammed in the weeds, I think the Skylark wheels look bitchin', not quite as "street-roddy". Obviously, my opinion, but I have always wanted to do what you guys are talking about. Mike
  4. I remember "The Birds" when the guy lights a smoke and tosses his match, a 55 blows up. That's one of earliest memorable Buick specific scenes. I recall seeing that Tom Hanks Buick for sale on ebay. I believe it had an entirely altered drivetrain, including auto trans. Does anybody remember the title of the Burt Reynolds movie with the orange and white 55? They raged that car fer sure. Y'all rented "Perfect World" yet? Mike
  5. Wow, I sure wasn't expecting that. Looks great. Mike
  6. SWEEEEEET. I was on the fence about doing that on my 55. You may have tipped me over... Mike
  7. Hey Gary, You might want to see what wheelbase matches up to your Roadmaster, and then swap the body onto the frame. I considered this very briefly about ten years ago with my Special to stick on a (I think) 69 Sportswagon which had a wheelbase within an inch of my 55. That was the extent of my experience with a swap, instead choosing to restore my 55. BTW, I think a 401 would really fill your engine compartment nicely and look extremely nice. Mike
  8. What's a Centurion, Ron? Is it diesel? Thanks, Mike
  9. I have taken my dad to two Buick Nationals. (I know I'm recruiting the wrong generation ) The last BCA National we went to (in Rochester Mn.) he had an interesting layman's view. He called them: A.) antique - brass era through mid thirties B.) classic - usually thirties through late fifties C.) modern - late fifties through sixties D.) used cars - anything else OK, I realize this is coming from a non car guy, and some of you would disagree with him, but I thought his take was interesting (and yes, I know what a full classic is, this is my dad's list). Mike
  10. Yeah, when I read the list and the explanations there were a few odd comments I picked up on. To me, the way it was written was for the masses, he wasn't writing for car guys. It's hard to make a case against any car in small snippets. I knew the Model T comment on the environmental impact of cars as a whole was going to make this group grab the pitchforks and torches. Instead of dragging this post down, why don't we replace some of the cars on his list that we don't agree with? And why. Or agree with him on other cars. Like adults. Mike

  12. Nailheads are getting big in the hot rod community, that could be really good for us if more parts (by different companies) started getting manufactured. For example, the pictured car has a six deuce manifold that IS being reproduced for all nailheads. Also, don't worry those aren't real Buick drums. Mike
  13. Here is the story on mine. BTW you can go to the forum section and find a bunch of ideas for your garage. http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/441225#Post441225 Mike
  14. Yeah, I really like the who's online feature.I like to know if any buddys are around. I honestly didn't feel one way or the other about the SHOUT feature. Sorry Mr. Earl. Mike
  15. Like I needed another reason to really want one of those. That twilight shot is great. Mike

  17. Oh yeah, one other thing. Don't fix the speedminder, unplug it. You'll find out why when it works. Mike
  18. Gary, A new spring set costs less than a BowFlex, attach them to a two by four and pull real hard, it should have you ready for the Auto Olympics in no time . Hey BTW, what part of Maryland do you live in? I grew up in DC and still have a bunch of friends up there. (No car guys, though) Mike
  19. A few comments to supplement NTX's thoughts. -I would not recommend any type of gas tank sealer that you do yourself. -Watch out for the aluminum jacks, I bought one that should have been great (light weight 4000 lb. capacity) but it didn't budge the 60 Buick I was working on. Sears took it back for 15% restocking fee (what a bargain). -Spray adhesive... the expensive stuff you will find at the "Depot" will work but you have to mask EVERYTHING anywhere near where you are using it, remember you have to glue the hood too. You might try more of a brush on product if you can find one. I think I didn't even use glue on my Wildcat. The insulation is a pretty tight fit on my car. -I think airbags are pretty neat looking, but I have no knowledge of pros/ cons. If you decide to go that route please let us know what you think. Mike
  20. You guys need to let it go. It's making me want to go investigate just to see how bad it is, and I didn't like it before. "Hey, smell this. Has this milk gone bad?" Mike
  21. That Jag boat is unreal. What a honey. I hope they drive it....hard. Mike

  23. Thanks Barry, That means alot coming from a guy with one of the nicest cars I have ever seen. Mike
