  1. Hey guys. I'm on a roll today. Got some downtime. So, I'm trying to get some things fixed on my TC that have been put off for years. My windows (particularly the driver's side) leak air and noise. I've tried to adjust them before but with no luck. Has anybody had luck with fixing this. It seems to mainly be between the front and rear 1/4 window. I don't know if I need a new seal there, or if it's an adjustment issue. I'm also afraid adjusting that rear 1/4 window could really be a pain to get to if that's what it needs. So, wanted to hear you all's input. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
  2. Hey guys. This one's a bit of a stretch, but does anyone know what paint matches the original black paint on the rear reflector where it says"Chrysler's TC" on the left and "by Maserati" on the right? Mine is disappearing, revealing a yellow tinge underneath, and I'd like to touch that up (or have it repainted) to match exactly what it was before. I try to be as OEM/authentic as possible to the original. I know this is a pretty specific question, but with y'all's wealth of wisdom on so many little details about our cars, I figured someone out there might know. Please let me know if you have any input! Thanks guys!
  3. My black soft top has gotten a couple spots over the years where the canvas has gotten a little stiff and wrinkly. Overall, it's still in really good shape. So, I want to preserve it as best I can. So, I wanted to see what you all recommend to soften/save those couple spots? They're on the back side near the rear window. I'm not sure if it's spots where dry-rot has started or what, but I'm wondering if there's something I can do to soften those spots back up and keep them in good condition, kind of like the Leatherique products can do for our leather when it gets hard? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Hey all. Years ago, I replaced the hard velcro strips that glue down to the metal strip along the inside of the back quarter windows. I'm pretty sure I used something equivalent to gorilla glue, but it didn't take long for the glue to break down and lose it grip. I'm finally getting around to trying to replace it again. So, I wanted to see if any of you all have done this successfully, and if so, what velcro/glue did you use that actually will hold strong to that metal strip and last for many years?
  5. Thanks for the help guys. I did find one at the local Cadillac Dealer for about $7 with tax. Parts number is 20160587. Said he'll have it in on Monday. I appreciate the help!
  6. Hey guys, My rearview mirror has been slowly clouding up over the years. It's still not that bad (only in the center), but I'm considering possibly replacing the glass. It looks like the reflective layer underneath the glass has just slowly been breaking down underneath. So, I wanted to see if any of you all have replaced yours, and if so, where did you get a replacement piece? The whole rest of the rearview mirror is in great condition. It's just this fogging on part of the actual mirror. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks y'all.
  7. Hey all, I'm looking for a ginger driver's side interior door bezel that goes around the door handle. I'm pretty sure they're not universal where I could use a passenger side bezel on the driver's side upside down. So, specifically needing the driver's side bezel. Please let me know if you have one to sell or know someone who does. Thanks all.
  8. Do you happen to have the plastic covers for the bottom of the seat belts (driver's side and passenger)? Also looking for the ginger driver's side bezel that goes around the inside door handle if you have them. Please let me know. Thanks.
  9. Hey all. Finally got to take my top pull-down motor assembly apart and I have confirmed it's just the gear that went bad. A couple of the teeth are broken off. Where do you all recommend purchasing one? I'd rather purchase a new one than have to look for an old one at a junkyard and worry about it going bad soon too. I had read on here that some of you all purchased one from GM I believe. Is that just the gear or the whole motor? My motor works fine. So, I just need to find that replacement gear. Hoping to find one as cheap as possible. Any recommendations would really be appreciated! Thanks guys.
  10. Do you still have parts available?
  11. To be honest guys, my Dad is the real mechanic when it comes to working on my car. He used to be a Chrysler mechanic and Service manager for years. So, he usually helps me with these fixing projects on my TC, but I like to run things by everyone here on the forums first since you guys have experience with all the intricacies and little tricks with fixing our unique cars and have probably done each of these projects. We do have a service manual as well, but since I'm trying to diagnose this issue and be able to deal with it if it happens while I'm not near my Dad for help, I just wanted to check with you guys. That way, when it happens, I can get a better idea of what's going on and let him know what we need to fix. So, as always, I appreciate you guys' help! Just have to wait and see when it happens again. Thanks again guys.
  12. Thanks Reaper. Probably going to be a few weekends till I can get to it, but the info. you guys provided should make this a lot easier to figure out!
  13. Thanks Bob and Digger. Next time it happens, I'll make sure that I've replaced that relay in case I haven't done that one yet, and I'll try the ignition trick as well. Hopefully I can get it fixed. Not sure about why the screwdriver trick would work for you Bob if you've already replaced the relay. Sometimes, you've just gotta do what works with these cars, haha. Hopefully someone else may have a better idea why that would make it work. Lose connection somewhere maybe?
  14. To make sure I've replaced the right relay, do you happen to know where the relay is located? I think I've replaced the right one, but want to make sure. I'll definitely try to flip the ignition back and forth next time to see if that makes a difference as well.
  15. Will do. Hopefully it's just that gear. Thanks Digger!
  16. Hey everyone, Fixing up some more things on my '90 TC since I've got it out of storage. The last couple years when I've driven it, sometimes when I shut the car off, the radiator fan keeps running. A couple times, it's ended up draining the battery dead. It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does, if I hear it, I have to unplug the battery cable to avoid a dead battery until I get back in to drive it again, at which point I plug it back in. It's a pain because my hood gas struts are shot, and that baby is HEAVY to lift by yourself while also re-hooking-up the battery. Have no idea what would cause this to happen. Even replaced a couple relays thinking that might be the cause. Still happens. Anyone else ever have this happen, or have any suggestions for what it might be and how to fix it?
  17. Hey Digger. I looked back on many of the threads some more tonight after you mentioned this. It led me to some possible conclusions, but still a little confused. So, I went out and double checked it. When I press and hold the down side on the "top" rocker switch, it makes noise and continues to do so until I let go of the switch. When I press the up side, nothing happens. So, I guess it is stuck in the down cycle, and unable to complete that, is not allowing it to go back to the up cycle. This leads me to believe that the gear is what is broken, though I couldn't find it to check to see. It stopped working on me a few years ago, and I just haven't gotten around to fixing it until now. Since the motor still seemingly works, I'd like to just try to get a new gear for the motor if that sounds like what is broken. I found the old thread with the GM part number for a replacement gear. Just want to make sure that's what is probably what's wrong. Is there anything else that this would be that would make it not operate correctly but still make a noise? I appreciate the help on this.
  18. Hey everyone. The top pull-down motor on my '90 is not working right. It's been like this for a while, and I've just been using the manual lock and unlock in the back trunk instead, but would like to be able to use my motor again. When I push the switch, I can hear something running (which I assume is the motor). So, I now it isn't a power problem. It just doesn't lock down or release the the prongs on the top. Hate to spend the money on a new motor if it doesn't really need it. I had read someone mention about the motor locking in one direction or something, but not sure how to correct this. Anyone ever have a similar problem and know how to fix it?
  19. Are there still parts available from this TC? Saw it was posted in January. So, wasn't sure if you still have the car.
  20. Hi Mark. Sorry to hear you're parting with the TC, but I understand the struggles of the costs of having two cars, especially if you're not driving one of them and with the costs of insurance getting so high nowadays. I'm actually located on the IL side of the STL metro as well. I've got a '90 TC that I've had for years. Wanted to see if you still have the car or have had any interest. Not sure I'm really looking for another TC right now, but might be interested. Also, has the odometer been broken since you bought the car? Did the previous owner have any idea approximately how many miles were actually on it? Just let me know whenever you can. Thanks. -Blake
  21. Thanks for the tip. I have tried this, but unforunately it has not fixed the problem. I'm sure it is the teeth on the mast. Anyone know where I can get a replacement mast?
  22. Hey all, I am looking for a new antenna mast for my TC. We have a Chrysler dealership in the family. So, I asked them to check into it to see if I could get a replacement from Chrysler. The antenna no longer goes up and down, but I can hear the motor working fine. So, I'm assuming the teeth inside the mast have broken off from old age. The dealership said Chrysler no longer stocks these for the TC anymore. They do carry the LeBaron's, but they are not the same part number. Anyone know where I could get one relatively inexpensively? I want it to match the original in height and appearance at least, but I don't want to go to the expense of buying a whole new assembly as I only need the mast. Any suggestions?
  23. I have the original window sticker with my '90 T.C. (2.2L Automatic), and the sticker says it gets 32HWY and 30CITY. I haven't verified this, but I wouldn't be surprised. My TC seems to get darn good gasmileage.
  24. My driver side visor won't stay tight up to the windshield, but my passenger side one does. The driver side one will stay up, just not all the way up touching the windshield. Any suggestions on how to make it stay tight?
  25. Can anyone explain the crystal key concept to me. I've heard some from other people, but I'm still not sure what they are all about.
