  1. We traced the electrical schematic, and since the blue headlight dash light goes out and the lights flash off when the high beams are engaged, it appears it must be a voltage issue. So, I'm assuming it's either a bad headlight on/off switch (in which case the new replacement part was bad), or a bad headlight high/low beam switch, unless there's something I'm missing.
  2. Got a new one y'all. A valet broke my headlight switch that turns the lights on/off. So, finally got it replaced and my headlights are now flashing on/off/on/off repeatedly when I drive. Usually takes a few minutes after I first turn them on for it to start to do it. When it happens, I can't flash the high beams either, as it turns off both sets of lights until it flashes back on about 3-5 seconds later. Any ideas? Is this likely a relay problem? Could it be a bad (new) switch?
  3. Hi @MarkKC, is the TC drivable for that distance? If so, I might be willing to drive it for you. I take my TC's on occasional roadtrips, and have driven across the country multiple times in different vehicles over the years, including on 70 from the West Coast to the midwest. So, I'm familiar with Colorado to KC. Send me a message if so, and we can talk about it.
  4. Hi all, Just wondering how expensive replacement ECM’s for the V6’s are, and how hard they are to come by? Has anyone had success with re-mans or know a company that sells our ECM’s or rebuilds them for someone if theirs fails? I have a spare that I’ve thought about selling that’s on my parts car, but wondering if I should hold on to it for the future in case mine ever fails. Not sure how likely that is to happen, but trying to determine if it would be much better to hold on to it or if I should just sell it?
  5. Here's more information on it: https://www.alpine-usa.com/product/ilxf509-alpine-halo9-hi-res-multimedia-receiver
  6. Wondering if anyone has installed this Alpine Radio model, and if so, how the fit was? I'm thinking about purchasing and installing one of these in my TC, but wondering how the fit was. Would love to see pictures if so as well. From what I can tell, it would probably fit , but wondering if it rubs on the leather surround or if it covers the A/C buttons too much. Anyone actually done this in their TC?
  7. Hi all, I'm wondering if there was a factory tinting to the hardtop rear window and portholes? I noticed on my '91 TC that all 3 windows on the hardtop seem to have a light, bluish-gray tint to them that seems to not be aftermarket from what I can tell. I don't recall seeing that on my 1990 hardtop before it was destroyed. Did they tint some from the factory? Maybe this was a change throughout the 3 years of production? Or were they all like this?
  8. Hi all, Wanting to confirm what were the original manuals and documents that came with the 1990 TC's? I know of the following: - 1990 Blue Owner's Manual - 1990 Warranty Booklet - 1990 Original Sticker - 1990 Customer Arbitration Board - Top Operation and Storage Manual Was there also a Chrysler Sound Systems Booklet for 1990? I've seen this listed with some of the listings/mentioned, but didn't know if that was only certain model years of the TC, or not given with all cars originally? Also, heard mention of an airbag booklet? Anything else I'm missing?
  9. Hi Jack, I had the audio shop do the full install. They replaced all the wiring, installed all new speakers, and an aftermarket amp to power the whole system. I also put in an aftermarket head unit myself, and have replaced that since.
  10. Hi @HghCmdr, Thanks for the info. They ran all new wiring when they put the new sound system and amplifier in years back, but I've had this problem ever since. Don't know if they wired something poorly or what. I guess eventually, I'll have to trace through the wires as best I can to check all connections, etc. I know these audio gremlins can be hard to diagnose though, and take a lot of time. Ugh.
  11. Thanks @HghCmdr. It's weird because it happens on my other TC too, which has aftermarket speakers, an aftermarket amp, radio and wiring. So, it seems like it's something in the electrical system, but we haven't been able to figure it out over the years. When I got another TC, and realized it's having the same problem with the stock system, it made me think it must be a common problem somewhere in the electrical.
  12. Thanks guys. I appreciate those code websites, as they do give more details and recommendations than the service manual just stating what the codes are. I've been doing the "key-cycling" read for a while and mainly have been getting the same codes. I'm currently getting 12, 24, 17, 55 in that order. I have the service manual, and have been referencing it trying to get this darn thing fixed for months. My other TC has never had this problem, but this one has been running rough since I got it. The 24 is a more recent code, but I recently replaced the radiator. So, I just need to replace that thermostat here soon, as I've noticed it has ben running too cool at times. But this other problem proceeds it. It dies on me frequently at very low speeds or idle. It also pulses back and forth between about 400 RPM and 1100 RPM back and forth, like it starts to diem realizes it ad gives it gas and goes back and forth. If I put it in neutral, that often helps to prevent it from dying at idle because it will kick up the RPMs to around 1,500, until I drop it back into O/D. Sometimes, it will run gloriously with no issues, but that isn't that often, and it usually doesn't last that long. I've already replaced the IAC, TPS and the MAP Sensor. I've received a code 13 many times in the past as well, though it hasn't been showing up as of late. 12 and 24 seem to be the persistent errors that won't go away. I tried to take it to Autzone, O'Reilly and Advance Auto Parts to have them read it to make sure there wasn't something else it might tell me that the light flashing codes wouldn't and to see if I could gather any other data I could provide to my dad. He was a Mopar mechanic for years, but lives in a different state. He's looked at it a couple times, but the IAC, TPS and MAP sensor replacements (as well as a small vacuum leak to the A/C controls fix that we did) hasn't fixed this problem.
  13. Sure, sorry @Hemi Dude. It doesn't seem to be the usual leak around the corners of the top attachment. I occasionally get that as well when driving through heavy rain, but this floor wetness happens after it's sat parked out in the rain. I will find the floorboards on one side or the other (or sometimes both) pretty soaked, but the glass, door panels, seats, dash, a-pillar all seem dry. And it's generally just the bottom of the floor carpeting in front of the seats. I can't feel it being wet going up the sides anywher around the floor area. So, it's making it hard to diagnose if it's running down from somewhere. I know someone mentioned in the past checking drain tubes in the tonneau area to see if they're plugged, as I guess this can be the culprit, but they seem to be fine. Its been a problem for a few years now, and it's just been really hard to diagnose.
  14. Hey Hemi. Yeah, I've tried in the past. They said they didn't know what would be causing it. They blamed it on the radio I had at the time, but I've replaced it since then, and the problem still persists. I just thought since it's now doing it with my second TC as well, it might be a somewhat common issue with these TC's that someone had come across before. Seems to be another one of those strange gremlins.
  15. Hi all, Do any auto parts stores or somewhere else cary our DRB II diagnostic readers and offer free or cheap readings? The ones I've asked only carry the newer OBD units. Trying to avoid taking it to the dealership for a more expensive reading, if the dealers near me even still have theirs. Any suggestions on places you all have found that offer this?
  16. Hi Nile, It's actually a water leak from the outside into the cabin. I'm getting soaked carpet on the driver's side and sometimes the passenger's side at different points, especially after it rains. It does this with both the hardtop on and also with the soft top on. So, the water is leaking in from somewhere, but I can't see a path of water anywhere. So, it doesn't appear to be anywhere around the windows or the tops.
  17. Anyone know the common leak places that cause the floor to get wet in both the driver's side and passenger side floor boards? My TC has been doing this for a few years now, and I can't seem to find where the leak is, despite checking some of the places people mentioned might be the cause. The only places I really notice getting all the water is the floorboards under the mat on both sides. Doesn't seem to be water coming in from around the windows, as I don't typically find much water besides a good amount on the floorboards. I've read others having the same problems. So, thinking this might be a somewhat common problem. So, trying to figure out what the usual cause is and how to fix? Would definitely appreciate some guidance, as this has been hard for me to pin down the cause.
  18. Hi all, Where can we buy replacement seals body and window seals for our TC's? I would like to replace most of the seals on my car, including: A-pillar window top seals (driver and passenger side) External seals below door window and rear 1/4 window (driver and passenger side) All Hardtop seals all the way around the hardtop TC parts are pretty limited on those they have, and don't have many of these. So, I didn't know if somewhere else might still have these in stock NOS or if there is a good aftermarket manufacturer that makes these? Have any of y'all come across these or had any luck finding these for your own vehicles?
  19. I get it guys. I have some family that often drive without any music or radio programming on too. I, however, am the opposite, and almost always have music on. I used to think the guys who installed my aftermarket system did something wrong, and that's why the driver's side tweeter often is off to cuts in and out. However, when I got this second TC, I've noticed it frequently happens in it too, and it's a stock radio with the original Infinity speakers. So, there must be something else that causes this. Really want to get to the bottom of it. So, that's why I'm wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem, and knows the cause and/or how to fix?
  20. Hi all, Going to have the body shop get the windows redone on my replacement hardtop, and just wanting to check back to verify about best practices to refurbish these windows without running the emblems. What is the best way to separate the two panes without damaging the pentatrdent emblem? I've heard Goo-gone, razor blades, etc. What have y'all found is safest? I'm guessing I should have it sent to a glass specialist to re-bond the two panes together to seal it back up without bubbling? And just to confirm, does the interior glass pane stay in place, or is it best to remove both to do this? And the film with the logo is sealed to the interior pane with the exterior pane glued down on top of it, or is the film sealed to the exterior pane? Sorry for the questions, but he's nervous to do this. So, I want to make sure I have the right info to guide him (or a glass specialist if we go that route). Thank you for any info y'all can provide!
  21. @Hemi Dude@mensanguy Hey gents, Wanted to check back about this to make sure you saw the above 2 comments, with another little update as well. I have been driving it for a couple weeks with that swapped MAP sensor, and same problems. It does tend to idle a bit higher now most of the time, more around 800 RPM, which seems better, but still occasionally dies and revs up and down. Another strange little quirk that I've noticed with this issue. If I put it in park when it's acting up like this, it often tends to rev up (to 1300-1500 RPM) and stay there for a while. Don't know why this would cause this, but thought I'd throw it out there. It was driving like crap the other night and threw the check engine light on again. So, I checked the codes right away when I got to my destination and got the following sequence in this order, which is a bit different than I usually get: 12 24 17 14 15 55 The 17 I've only gotten more recently, which seems to have occurred after I replace the radiator about 2 months ago. So, I'm going to put a new thermostat in, but this driving issue has been happening since well before that ever showed up. Is it weird for the codes to read out out of numerical order like that? I've also never gotten the code 15 before on this TC, which the book says is a "vehicle distance sensor circuit". I talked to my Dad about it, and he told me the output speed sensor could be going bad. When I told him the speedometer has stopped workin on me a few times lately for a few minutes each time, he said that would make sense. So, I'm going to try to replace that sensor. I wonder if this could be causing these issues, even though the speedometer itself has only more recently stopped working temporarily here and there? 24 is, of course, that same TPS code, and 14 is that same "MAP sensor electrical circuit", which of course, I've replaced both the TPS and MAP sensor multiple times. So, it might be something in the circuits, but not the actual sensors? Any other recommendations gents? Again, hoping it's not an ECM issue as I mentioned above, and don't know how to even know for sure if it is that. Thank you guys for your patience with this along the way, as I know this has been ongoing for a few months now. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
  22. Hi all, My hearing is definitely in great shape. That's probably why I notice it so much! So, in my original TC, I have an aftermarket radio, aftermarket speakers and a separate amplifier. The driver's side tweeter cuts out off and on, and has since they put this aftermarket system in years ago. I figured it was the people who installed it did something wrong. However, to my surprise when I got a second TC recently and started driving it, I noticed this TC is doing the same thing, except it has the stock Infinity system and original stereo! That's why I'm wondering if this is a TC quirk, where something causes this, and can be fixed. I've tried to trouble shoot over the years, but eventually assumed it must be an issue with the aftermarket install, until this second TC arrived and is doing the same thing. Seems to only be the driver's side tweeter on both. Anyone else experience this or have any ideas of what could be the cause?
  23. Yeah, on my first hardtop, it either didn't have that uneven spacing, or there's a chance I just didn't notice it. I know for sure I didn't have noticeable air leaks like I've experienced with one of my current ones. Since, I'm seeing this on multiple tops, maybe this was typical with the TC's. For the one with the noticeable air leak, I'll probably just have to add additional weather stripping on top of the seal already there to close it.
