  1. Thanks Bob. I will have to give it a try. The pictures are a big help and knowing the steel cover is pressed on is good to know. Will have to get one off and take it to a few friends that are much older and wiser than I am.
  2. Have fun at Hershey, Wish I was on the east coast so I could go. If you happen to see anyone with a mint set of 32 60 series hub caps would you get their number for me.
  3. Thanks Bob. I would be interested in seeing one taken apart if you dont mind posting some pictures. If there is something I can rebuild myself I would rather do it than have someone else because I know what kind of care I take in rebuilding my own parts, I cant say that for others building my parts as I have got parts back that were worse after they rebuilt them. Jack
  4. Anyone know where I can get rebuild kits for 60 series shocks, tired of them leaking all over the garage floor.
  5. click on them, they should get bigger. When I pulled the pan I found a pressurized oil system and counter balanced crank, just needs insert bearings and it would be perfect.
  6. Here is my new coupe, dual side mounts and a luggage rack, has been sitting in a garage since 1956, has a brand new C engine with all the accessories attached along with a new transmission. I pulled the pan and it have the counter balanced crank, a pressurized oiling system ,fuel pump which is blocked off right now but a new one came with the car along with a new tiltson carb in a box and one on the engine. I will be getting on this project as soon as I finish replacing the trunk floor in my 70 Challenger 440 6 pack that I use for a daily driver. Might have to use the model A for a daily driver when I get it running.
  7. I had a guy stop me when I was driving my 32 Buick 66S up to Reno a few weeks ago and he said he had a car like mine for sale, he gave me his # and I called him when I returned home, Went over to see what he had two weeks ago and it wasnt a Buick. It was a 31 model A coupe that has been sitting in his dads garage since 1956. He took it all apart to put a new engine and transmission in and just gave up. The engine and trans are still sitting next to the car waiting to go in. Nice thing is, it is the counter weighted engine from 34, plus boxes full of new parts. Got a real good price so it was hard to pass it up. Since I have two gallons of laquer paint that is a few shades off of what my Buick is painted I will use that to paint it and call it the Buicks little cousin. Bought it to flip but wife has claimed it as hers already. Nice to have a wife into old cars.
  8. Vintage Ford has a 600wt oil that they sell for their steering boxes, trans and diffs for the model Ts and As. do a search for Sacramento Vintage ford and you will find it. Just in case you dont find it anywhere else.
  9. John. all the holes are in place, would have never guessed that the hood prop was that large though. I was thinking like most car companies and would have used something much smaller. Now to get out in the garage and make a set. Thanks again guys. Jack
  10. Peecher is a welth of information on these old Lincolns. I would put my money on the feed hose.
  11. Thanks Bob and John. I would have never have guessed it would be as big as that. Looks simple enough to make. I was thinking it would have been much smaller. Glad we have people like you on this forum. Thanks Again. Jack
  12. I just bought a 31 5 window coupe that needs total restoration, it has the B engine in it now and it comes with a new C engine. What are the differences between the two. I have lots of old cars but this is my first early Ford.
  13. I have done two sets. dont use anything over 7mm wire which I think is stock. I used Packard 440 solid core wire and rubbed each wire with a little lithium grease so they would slide inside the tubes easy and against each other with ease. I left 6-7 inches extra on the plug side and about the same for the cap side, you will need the extra on the cap side to bend them around inside the cap so the two halves will fit together. Once you have the wire run and bolted on with caps in place then pull the rest of the wire tight and leave an extra inch for the plugs in case you ever have to put on new ends.
  14. jscheib. I have nothing on the hood that will catch on the small indentations on the cowl, so I am confused as to what you are talking about. A picture would be nice to see what I am missing. There are some holes in the inside of the hood lip but I have nothing to put in them.Wouldnt even know what goes in there.
  15. I just bought a Model A 5 window coupe with dual side mounts and a trunk rack, has a brand new C engine and a new transmission to go with it. It will need a complete restoration but at least everything is there and in good shape. got it for 4000. its been sitting in a garage since 1956 torn down waiting for its new engine. Should be a fun restoration with my eldest son and Grandson. Will post some pics when I get it home in a few weeks. now to make room in the garage for it.
  16. I gave him a call last week and he has one of the last two he had in the mail to me. Should have it back up and running cool by next weekend.. Thanks
  17. Thanks Bob. I guess I will have to add some rods to hold the hood up. Looking into building a large 2" long angled piece of aluminum with a soft rubber pad on the bottom that will fit on the back inside of the hood so when it is open it will rest where Buick has a small roll in the metal. Seems like that is what it is for but can not find anything that bolts or rivits to the hood in that location. Someone has to have a 32 that has something for a hood rest that was factory, maybe someday they will see this. Thanks guys for your help.
  18. Anyone needing anything for your Buffalo hubs can contact Kevin Pharis at pharismetals@live.com All his parts are being made new on CNC machines all billet so they will last forever. If you need pics write him and he will send you pics of what he makes, beautiful parts and will work with the original parts too.
  19. I am surprised no one with a Buick of this age has commented, I guess Buick didnt use anything and just layed the hood across the other side, which seems stupid since this ruins the hood center strip and the paint on top of the hood. I will follow the pattern for my Packards to make something. Thanks guys for your help
  20. I would like information on what was used to hold the hood sides open in 1932? I have been using a rubber base from an appliance but it fell apart when it got over 105 this weekend and scratched my paint when it slammed shut.
  21. I have a friend that is making the new Hub Assemblies for the Buffalo wire wheels along with the hub caps. if you just want hub caps he makes them out of Aluminum or brass. PM with email and I can send pics and contact info.
  22. I talked to the guys from Crane cams while at Hot August Nights and they said they have a few different grinds that will make quit a bit more horse power than stock for all the Buick straight 8s. If your interested sand me a PM and I will find the card the guy gave me for the contact person at Crane Cams.
  23. I jus took my 1932 Buick rumble seat coupe up to Reno for Hot August Nights car show. From Sacramento it is only 130 miles but it is from sea level up to 7300 feet. car made it with no problems and it was 102 that day. did have my Fan Hub lock up on me when the oil dried up when the screw came out but that is not something you would have to worry about. Had to have it towed home because these parts have to be made. I had a great time and didnt have to eat anyone on top of the Donner Pass.
  24. I found a new sealed bearing fan hub and have it on order. My fan hub bearing carrier cracked in half so I will braze it together and hone out the front for some very thin sealed bearings I found on a lawn mower then add a grease zerk to the front of the hub. if the brazing holds up I will add an oillite bronze busing to the rear and drill and tap it for a grease zerk too.
  25. I need a new fan hub assembly for my 32 60 series. If anyone knows someone that makes them please let me know, would really hate to put an electric fan on this nice old car..
