  1. Wow guys , I was quite sure that this would be very though one for you but , again, I noticed that the real experts are in AACA. The narration of the film clip tells about the project of finnish government developing wood gas generators. Professor Harald Kyrklund of Helsinki was the main chief in this project. The thing that was different in this "modern" system was the compressor added to front of the car which was connected directly to crankshaft. The compressor added the power of this system (as the diagram in the film shows) that the power ratio is even better than in only-fuel engines (!). The main reason why they stopped the production was that the system never worked perfectly and after the WW2 the gas was cheap again. Well, think about it, you could make the fuel for these cars yourself.
  2. I have ordered some DeSoto emblems from him. took couple months longer than promised, but the stuff is great! I recommend. I will order complete lens set for my '57 Imperial from him. He seems to be nice guy - i wouldn't hesitate to order, but if you are in a hurry, it might be a good thing to tell him that. I bet he has hands full of work with these things!
  3. Because gasoline is priced so high at the moment, it might be good time to consider something else used as fuel on regular engines? Atleast in Finland 1/4 gallon fuel costs ~1,8 USD. In Second WW finns (and other europeans) used wood gas as fuel on standard fuel engines. here's a good clip from 1938 where they test a 1937-38 Fargo truck with woodgas(carbon monoxide) generator. http://yle.fi/elavaarkisto/?s=s&g=1&ag=7&t=321&a=2291 (click on "play" button under the picture of the truck next to "häkäpönttöautot" to see the film clip ) I guess the fuel has always been "cheap" in The States that it hasn't been necessary for you guys to use these kinda woodgas generators? After Second WW the fuel was much easier to get in Finland and the designing of woodgas generators stopped. Here's a nice article written by Vesa Mikkonen of Finland about his woodgas-1979 Lincoln! (it's in english) http://www.ekomobiili.fi/Tekstit/english_etusivu.htm Mikko has driven 15 000 miles since 2006 with the car! Does anyone have more info about woodengas in US ? Or is this completely new thing for you guys?
  4. Here's another clip from youtube that makes me wonder if I had born too late and in wrong country http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQChPA51z4Y

  10. Come on guys, patience..! You have to understand that this is the way things go in modern world. In a world where companies are ran with computers. When a company updates their systems - IN A BIG WAY -there will be always be problems and bugs for a while. Even if everything is tested completely. Even though everything would work fine there's always people that think that the old way was better. You have to give feedback to the staff - and be PATIENT. I know that's a slow way, but they are building up the service for You guys.I'd bet they would appreciate it. And you have to remember that changing the system that as large as Ebay is not a snap of the fingers. Thrust me - I know what I'm talking about - This is what I do for a living Engineer in IT-business
  11. Are what? for 1938? I'm trying to order a wiring harness for 3/4 ton RD and the company says they only have wiring for 1938 RC 1/2 ton. Is there any differences?
  12. Also pictures about original throttle linkages appreciated.
  13. I have a strong feeling that body/frame construction was changed in 1936. (1936-1938)
  14. .. not even for a daily driver in snowy and rainy Finland? ok ok - I got the point , but i really like those 4 door older cars- I have been looking around ebay for a '49-'50 Ford 4d for time to time and those seem to be more rare than 2d sedans. Atleast on the market.
  15. IS there anybody out there? Need help on matter "How rear fenders are attached to frame ??" I know they must be bolted on bed as well. Any HELP appreciated - pictures even more! Thanks!
  16. "1936 Cord 810 OK License (1958) 5-2228 (warehouse) 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged OK License (1958) 5-5529 (warehouse) 1939 Lincoln “K” Sedan Number K-8367 All aluminum body Purchased from Champlin Oil Family (warehouse)" I have a great idea - AACA could purchase the whole lot and start as a parts vendor All members could purchase stuff for half price and non-members would have to pay full price I could reserve a 1937-39/49-50 Ford 4d or 37-39 Packard 4d for me. Or a '37-39 Mopar 4d! (Need a another daily driver , my '88 Ford Country Squire is too modern for me. )
  17. Not very much snow yet here in Finland but I'm prepared for it. Yesterday, put a new set of BF Goodrich Winter Slalom tires(with "ice picks"?or what are they called) on my '88 Country Squire. My first set of winter tires. And I've been driving for 10 years now
  18. For sometime I have been wondering ... What should I do for living to have a chance to get a Duesenberg.. No I know the answer - start couple of fried chicken restaurants! Great story - these things are quite interesting.
  19. Wayne, it's not just the Americans ... Example: Got an Apple laptop without power adapter. The new adapter would have cost 50-60 euros.. So, I found an used from Ebay for 30 bucks. I figured out that I could ask them to ship it to my step brother in FL because my other brother was visiting him and I could save few euros if he could bring it for me. Well, asked the seller ship it fast because my brother had only 2 weeks to spend in FL.. .. The adapter didn't arrive to FL when my borther was there- but after couple of weeks my American brother called and told he found a package on their front door that had been there several days and all wet (they don't use that door frequently, only the one that goes to garage), so he missed the power adapter package. OK, so, there power adapter is still there and I'll have to pay the shipping to Finland - and I might even break something with that thing because it was in rain for few days... So - something that you may think might not be that cheap after all

And it was a real waste of money!! I remember one automotive magazine test driving a Moskvich and there was a great comment that when they opened the rear door the door panel fell off.. and it was a NEW car then..
