  5. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SOLD 10/22/2012 THANK YOU. This car was just purchased from a St. Louis area estate where it was owned by the former owner since 1975. Prior to his ownership, it is believed that this car has had only three other owners since new. The most remarkable aspect of this car is its mileage of only about 3,530 ORIGINAL miles since new. This car is completely original inside and out, top and bottom, front to rear. It has never been improved, updated or changed in any way. The tires are believed to be all original including the spare and show virtually no wear on them. The paint is all original with no signs of touchups or fill-ins anywhere. Other that the expected overall chips and scratches, the only areas of paint loss are on the lower doors where bare metal is exposed. If someone wanted to, this area could be filled in and the car would look like new. Of course, the door gaps and margins, hood and trunk fit, etc are just as they left the factory and the fit on this car is better than most 100 point restored show cars. There are no signs of rust and no rust bubbles anywhere. The interior is completely original and like new.The only area of wear is the rubber door gaskets which have deteriorated over the years. The glass is all original and excellent. The dashboard, steering wheel, etc are like new as well. There are no signs of wear, stains, seam separation, etc on the seats, door panels or headliner. The carpets are original and show some signs of mildewing which could probably be cleaned and they would look like new as well. The trunk retains its original mat which also has some light mildew stains. The chrome is all original and in good overall original condition showing only some expected wear on parts of the bumpers, but the condition of the chrome matches the rest of the car. Mechanically, the car runs and drives like new. Since being purchased earlier this year, the car was fully serviced in order to insure that it is mechanically sound and reliable. The gas tank was replaced, both the master and wheel cylinders were replaced, a new battery was installed and all of the fluids were changed. That was all that was required to make this car run like the new car that it is. Cosmetically, the car has only been cleaned and hand waxed, no attempt has been made to buff out the paint-the next owner can attempt that if they feel it is necessary. Overall, this is likely to be the lowest mileage, all original 1949 Chevrolets in existence today. It would be superb candidate for preservation class judging and would be a great addition to any collection that appreciates original and untouched vehicles. The car is located near St. Louis, Missouri and has a current and clear title. VIN# 3GKB7937. The price is 19,500.00. Please call 734-730-4274 or email: motoringicons@hotmail.com to schedule a viewing or for more photos and information. Thank you.

  7. SOLD 11/23/2012 This car has been owned by the current owner for the last 20 years. When he purchased the car it was a solid and low mileage original car. About three years ago, the body was completely stripped down to bare metal and the car was given a thorough cosmetic restoration. The body was repaired as needed using only metal and lead-no fillers were used. The car was repainted in its original dark maroon color which was carefully matched to the original paint. The car has an excellent overall fit and finish with even door, hood and trunk gaps, excellent paint, etc. The chrome is very nice throughout and was replaced as needed and the stainless was also removed and restored. The interior was completely and professionally restored in the period correct Chrysler Highlander style with matching carpets, headliner, side panels, etc. The interior is absolutely beautiful in this car and today remains in like new condition showing no signs of wear. The dashboard was restored and still retains all of its original gauges which are in excellent condition although the gas gauge does not appear to be accurate. The car shows approximately 85,000 miles on it which are believed to be original. About a year ago, the speedometer stopped working and the cable still needs to be replaced. Recently, the cylinder head was removed and a new gasket was installed and a valve job was given to the car. The fuel system, carburetor, ignition, and cooling systems were recently rebuilt as needed and all work as they should. The car starts easily, idles well, accelerates smoothly and does not smoke or overheat. The transmission and clutch are smooth and quiet and the brakes and steering are tight and responsive. The tires were replaced within the last 7 years and remain in excellent condition. The engine bay shows signs of use but is generally clean and the underneath of the car is in similar condition. It is fine as is but could easily be detailed to bring the car to the next level. The glass is excellent with the exception of a small crack on the passenger side door glass. The car has several accessories including radio (not working), heater, dual Mopar script fog lights, dual spot lights, turn signals accessory horn and a Fulton sun visor. The accessory fog and spot lights still need to be wired. Included with the car is a photo album showing the restoration. The price is 18,500.00. The VIN number is 70624608 and the car retains its original VIN and trim tags. This is a great looking and great running car that is ready to use and enjoy. The car has a clear and current Michigan title and is located near Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please call 734-730-4274 or email motoringicons@hotmail.com to arrange a viewing and test drive or for more photos and information. Thank you.

  9. I would agree that an overdrive would not only enhance the value but also the driving enjoyment. Keep in mind, however, that an overdrive works best with the correct ring and pinion ratio in the rear end. Check to see what ring and pinion you have, if you have a high speed ring and pinion, the overdrive will not work well at all and you will need to the ring and pinion before installing the overdrive. If you have a standard ring and pinion, the overdrive will work OK but for optimal results, something like a 4:11 would be the best choice for a Ford V8 with an overdrive so you aren't lugging the engine at lower speeds.
  10. Check out the Canton Classic Car Museum which is only a few miles from the show. I am not a football fan, but if you are, the Football Hall of Fame Museum is right down the road. Of course, there is an auction the day before the show. On your way to or from Canton, the Crawford Museum in Cleveland is an absolute "must see" as it is one of the great early car collections and still has a significant amount of significant early cars on display. The Glenmoor Gathering is a great event and Dave S. and his staff do an absolutely top notch job to ensure that everyone has a great time. I'll be judging again this year and am looking forward to a fun weekend! See you there.
  11. Mecum does a great job at all of his auctions. What is most impressive is that Mecum gives his sellers a check before they leave the auction. There is no 30 day waiting period to get paid like most of the other auctions.
  12. More photos taken last week. We just drove this 50 miles to a firemuster and pumped water with it all day!
  13. Thanks again for the nice comments. We drove the truck about 50 miles two weekends ago to a fire muster and pump water with it all day. You're right, they are only original once and when they have been gone through mechanically like this truck has, they are a blast to drive!

While it is one of 250 believed to have been made, only 7 are accounted for between the Lincoln Owner's Club and the Classic Car Club of America's rosters combined. This car was owned by the same owner from about 1970 until recently. From 1970 until 1985 he did a frame off, restoration on the car and drove and showed the vehicle on a regular basis. The car starts easily, idles well and the engine is extremely quiet at all speeds. The clutch and transmission are smooth, the steering is tight and responsive and the brakes work well and stop the car straight and square. The paint is extremely nice showing only minimal wear in the expected areas. The door fit and hood fit is excellent with even margins and gaps. The chrome is excellent. The dashboard is complete with all of its proper gauges. The interior is the proper and matching blue cloth and is extremely nice including the door panels, headliner, etc.Overall, this is an extremely well presented and ready to use Lincoln. 20. What causes the confusion is that a Model B engine has a cylinder head with a big letter "C" embossed, so, over the years, people have assumed it is a "C" engine, which does not exist. The four cylinder Model B engine was used in cars and trucks from 1932 to 1934. By 1933 and especially by 1934, it was mainly found in pickup trucks and the larger ton trucks. Production of the Model B engine itself continued well into the 1940s and at some point several thousand engines were shipped overseas, including a large batch that went to Russia. About 30 or so years ago, a large stash of complete, New Old Stock, never used Model B engines were found overseas and brought back to the US. I remember seeing a bunch of them at a vintage Ford parts dealer in California still in their original wood crates. I believe their are three crankshaft versions: a non-counterbalanced crank, a crank shaft with swedged-on counterweights and one that was built with counterweights.
