  1. Anyone perhaps have an ST324 and / or ST327 for the Yale locks on a 22 and 23 tranny? Thank you, Montrose
  2. Keith, I am thinking that they may be closer to 1910, but can research this a bit. I am interested if they are available. They may have been carbide at one time. I sent you a PM with my contact information. Thank you, Montrose
  3. I am quite familiar with the FD eights and may be able to help out with some advice and / or parts. I will PM you with contact info. Joel
  4. There are quite a few differences between the '29 and '30 models. A lot of them are described in the book "Chevrolet 1930 Features" which originally was printed in October of 1929, but has been available in reprint in the past. Joel
  5. I own a 53 Commander and would like this literature if still available. I just PM'd you with my address. Thank you, Joel
  6. Victor, I looked up starter switch in my parts book for the 1934 President © and they only specify the Startix. So it would appear that this was the standard equipment for this year. Perhaps someone else can chime in with any additional information. Incidentally, I do have a Startix available if you have any interest. I wili PM you with contact information. Joel
  7. They fit models 40, 41, 42. They are NORS Toledos X 283 which have 1/64" oversize stems. Thought I would see if there is any interest here before putting on ebay. Thank you, Joel (860) 871-6720
  8. Victor, The same manifold was used on various 8 cylinder models from 1929 to 1937. In 1938 the water pump was moved to the front of the block. The round holes are 3/8". The D shaped holes are 1.475" high by .56 wide at the center. The "flaps" are 1.57" high by 1.37" wide. I was fortunate to have found a NOS one at Hershey several years back. Joel
  9. I counted the louvers in my 31 President. It has 36. Montrose
  10. That is one way to release the lock, but it would be best if it was first "free" in its bore (when it is free, it can be rotated slightly without the key). If you do have a new lock and the old lock is deemed not worth trying to save, the lock can also be bored out. In which case there would be no need in drilling the release hole. Montrose
  11. Woops, you did say you had a Dictator 6 and not an 8. Here is the information for the 6: Tappet clearance from Studebaker Service Bulletin 38 A: Dictator 6 Exhaust Intake Hot ---------- .006 .006 Cold---------- .007 .006 The cold setting is considered room temperature or 70 degrees F while the hot temperature is considered approximately 150 degrees F or after the motor is thoroughly warmed up. And answering your other question, the parts books shows the 6 and 8 as using the same valve springs. Joel
  12. Victor, I can get you some pictures of what the baffles are supposed to look like, perhaps even make some up. What condition is your external cover in? Joel
  13. 36Stude, I should be able to help you out. I have some experience with various prewar stude locks and have a few locks on hand. But it sounds like you are all set on the lock itself. I just sent you a pm. Montrose
  14. Tappet clearance from Studebaker Service Bulletin 38 A: Dictator 8 Exhaust Intake Hot ---------- .006 .004 Cold---------- .007 .004 Joel
  15. I do know that one of the JR-5 aftermarket applications was for 29 - 31 Chevrolets. The JR-5 was supplied with a carb. base adapter when used as a replacement in this application. Joel
  16. Mike, What you have is a 1931 Model 54 Studebaker Standard Six. The Erskine name was dropped in 1930. The Q indocates that it is a coupe, and the 3 indicates the level of trim. There should be a serial number plate on the drivers side of the frame under the front fender. Joel
  17. I am looking for a few connecting rods to fit the 1932, 1933 337 CID straight 8; the forging number I am looking for is 174313. Thank you, Joel collies_studes@peoplepc.com
  18. The FB is considered to be a 1928 1/2 model. The 1929 model Presidents (and 1930) were designated as FE and FH models (2 different wheelbases). Yes, some parts are interchangeable, but many are not. I do know that there is a seperate parts book for the Studebaker FA and FB models. Reprints are available from Faxon auto literature and can be found on their website: http://www.faxonautoliterature.com/ Joel
  19. Jerry, If yours has pin holes on the outside, it is likely that the internal baffles are also corroded. And there are likely some very thin areas. The baffles are important to ensure proper flow of coolant past each of the 8 cylinders. I personally would not go with the epoxy. I would braze or fabricate and weld in repair sections. If I could not find a better jacket. Joel
  20. It is a Studebaker Light 6 motor, 1920-1922 (and possibly early 1923). Yes, they did use an aluminum head. In 1923 they made a number of design changes including a more conventional iron head. Joel
  21. Still have quite a few odds and ends still available.
  22. I have various extra engine parts including crankshafts, blocks, rods, misc. castings, oil pans, etc. Parts I have are for the smaller 8 used in the Commander(250, 221), Dictator(221), and later President(250). Joel (860) 871-6720 collies_studes@peoplepc.com
  23. I am working on a late 1931 President project car and am still looking for a few parts. Here a few items that I am either missing or hope to find better ones than the ones that I currently have: 1. Gas tank - 29-31 President 2. Rear splashguard (gas tank shield) - President and Commander from 29-31 are very similar, please let me know what you may have. One of these recently surfaced at an auction in N.C. on 6/14/08 - anyone know who may have purchased it? 3. Hubcap cores - 30-31 President 4. Wheel - 30-31 President 5. Bumpers - especially rear - 31 Commander or President 6. Intake silencer - 31 President 7. Tailight - 31 Commander or President (have 1, but would like to be able to install second one on right) 8. Radiator shell - 31 Commander or President 9. Sidemount clamps - 31 Commander or President I would be very interested to know what other parts, literature, and accessories you may have available. Thank-you, Joel (860) 871-6720 collies_studes@peoplepc.com
  24. Studebaker straight 8, About 1934 - 1940. Joel
