  1. Peter, Take a breath. He wasn't talking to you. Even if he was, your tone is harsh. Also, your lesson is a bit condescending. I dont think there is hardly a person on this forum that would mistake a Packard for a Jaguar or vis-versa. Consider your audience. Chill. Read the forum rules and guidelines again: Forum Guidelines Follow the forum rules. Post in the appropriate forum. Write complete topic titles. (no clickbait) Include year, make & model when appl. If the answer is no, maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid." - Bernard Meltzer
  2. September 27, 2023 AACA and Safeguarding Our Collector Vehicle Hobby Our AACA Membership and the AACA Board of Directors is very concerned about the numerous ideas being proposed by various governmental groups that could affect our collector vehicle hobby. There seems to be a lot happening all of a sudden with proposed legislation coming from many directions – most in the name of climate change and reduced emissions. Some people would say that our historic antique vehicles are unnecessary objects with emissions that should be eliminated from use because of climate change – but the resulting reduction in emissions could be almost imperceptible compared with other routine emissions required for everyday life. Certainly, all AACA Members must continually be aware of potential legislation changes that could affect our collector vehicle hobby and history. AACA joins with the SEMA Action Network (SAN) is a nationwide partnership between vehicle clubs, enthusiasts and members of the specialty auto parts industry who want to protect their hobby. Founded in 1997, the SAN is designed to help stamp out legislative threats to the automotive hobby and pass favorable laws. As we are well aware, there are many automotive concerns and issues challenging the collector vehicle hobby - the AACA Board of Directors through its Vice President, Legislation, is keeping a pulse on these various issues with regard to actions needed. Thank you, Mel Carson Vice President, Legislation AACA Board of Directors melcarson@charlotte-autofair.com NOTE FROM MODERATOR: Mel Carson is not a forum participant. 4. @jp1gt if you truly are looking for an answer to a question, provide a proper topic title, and a complete description. You’re not gonna get answers with a ambiguous topic and an incomplete description.

  6. The front view car i'm confident is a 1956 Chevrolet 2 door sedan. The convertible is a bit harder. Thoughts?

Hersheypark Dr. Hershey, PA 17033 Join Our Email List Looking Forward: 2024 Annual Convention By Stacy Zimmerman, Speedster Editor, szimmerman@aaca.org I know Hershey is right around the corner and we are all VERY excited to see everyone here in Chocolatetown, but I have to say I’m also getting VERY excited about the Annual Convention in February. I had the opportunity to go down to the Chantilly/Dulles area for a site visit at the end of last month, and I have to say that the property we are going to be at is just beautiful. The Westfields Marriott sits on 26 tranquil wooded acres only 10 miles from the Washington Dulles International Airport. It was recently named “Marriott’s Premium Hotel of the Year,” and they will be finishing up another whole-property renovation in the next month or so. The conference center area has lots of seminar rooms, a theater, several ballrooms to accommodate the trade show, judging schools and membership meeting, and a gorgeous space for our meal functions including the National Awards Banquet. Even though everything is newly renovated, they have still managed to keep some of the older charm from when it was originally built. If the food at the onsite restaurant is any indication of the quality of meals we will be getting there, I think everyone will be super happy with the food options during convention. We are thrilled to announce that Thursday’s pre-convention excursion will be to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The center is the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum annex that displays thousands of aviation and space artifacts, including the Space Shuttle Discovery, a Blackbird SR-71, the Enola Gay, and a Concorde. The 760,000-square-foot facility also houses the restoration shop for the museum. During your visit you will have time to meander on your own, go on a guided tour and maybe even take in a show at the IMAX theater. You will also be treated to a luncheon in an awesome space overlooking the Space Shuttle and the restoration shop. I really hope you will consider coming to convention early for this special outing. We will start announcing more and more details about the convention after Hershey, so make sure to pay attention to both Antique Automobile and Speedster. In the meantime, you can find information about making your hotel reservations later in this issue, and I am still looking for a few more good seminars for the schedule so let me know if you are interested or have a topic you would like to hear about. Buckle up for a time-traveling adventure as the iconic 1966 BATMOBILE takes the lead in the Antique Car Parade scheduled for Day 1 of the 2023 Western Divisional Tour. This event brings together car enthusiasts and history aficionados alike, with the legendary BATMOBILE (part of the esteemed Barris family collection) front and center in an enchanting Antique Car Parade through local communities and business districts, including routes that incorporate local schools and senior living communities. Presented by the Santa Barbara Region AACA and dedicated to “sharing smiles & giving back,” the Parade pays homage to the trailblazing George Barris, a visionary whose influence on automotive design reverberates through TV and movie production, as well as crafting unique celebrity cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s. ABOVE: Adam West & Burt Ward - Batman, Robin on their way back to the Bat Cave - shot from TV show BELOW: George Barris and Barris Kustom crew putting together the 1966 TV Batmobile at Barris Kustom shop in North Hollywood - they only had 15 days to complete for the TV show Batman In addition to unique and rare AACA member tour cars, antique gems owned by locals will also grace the parade as it motors through local business areas, driving by schools and through local senior communities, including a stop at the infamous TV personality Rona Barrett’s Golden Inn and Village. Adding to the excitement, the parade route will showcase a heartwarming sight: local school students donning Batman capes. These young enthusiasts on an engaging field trip will enjoy an enthralling history lesson as they witness the impressive procession of cars, and meet and engage with Joji Barris, daughter of the legendary George Barris. The energy continues as Joji takes center stage at the esteemed Santa Ynez Carriage Museum. A free event and open to the public, attendees will be treated to her firsthand insights into the legacy of the BATMOBILE and her father’s profound impact on TV and movie automotive design. Parade cars, arranged for display, will provide an opportunity for attendees to intimately appreciate these automotive marvels while reflecting on the groundbreaking work of George Barris. But the excitement doesn't end there! The AACA's 2023 Western Divisional Tour is still welcoming participants to join the fun-filled four-day adventure from September 25th to 29th. From meandering through picturesque routes to indulging in the local wine trail, from exploring Santa Barbara to relishing an unforgettable Vineyard dinner, from an unforgettable evening at the Mendenhall Museum of Gas Pumps & Petrolina to visiting an ostrich farm, from immersing in the charm of Solvang to celebrating with our newfound friends at the Finale Gala with none other than members of the “Rat Track Tribute” and Sandy Hackett, Buddy Hackett’s amazing son, to entertain us. 9. may want to reach out to pierce-arrow.org as well.
  10. Amazon is an alternative but filled with its own problems. AACA forum for sale doesn’t get enough traffic.
  11. But complaining indirectly will? They are money motivated. Want to get their attention? Hurt their income.
  12. Yup. I see your irony BUT…. What you fail to acknowledge is he did get an answer to his question. Ie “read the damn manual”. Then this post was hijacked from the original eBay search complaint … and is now just eBay bashing. You also seem to thing any eBay discussion here will somehow have any impact on eBay and their policies and technology.
  13. Wouldn’t it be more productive for somebody who has a problem with a site (that’s not this one) to contact the site in question? It took me virtually no effort to find the help necessary to explain how to use the eBay search tool. I posted it above. More important, this entire post stopped being about the eBay search function, and started being about issues with eBay in general, which has been beat to death in this forum, over and over again over the years.
