1. While teaching a class in Las Vegas, last fall, the subject of old cars entered the conversation. (As a good swap meet person, you can't pass up the chance to find some parts!!!) One of the local physicians mentioned that he had given an Amphicar ( at least called it one those cars that goes on land and water) to one of his patients to sell for him. That was 10 years ago, and he wanted $1500 for it. He had forgot all about the car. Oh well, the patient has moved to Arizona, and he thinks he still owns the car. I asked him to find the title. I will have him class later this spring. Perhaps that car is in still in storage!!! However, I am sure the price went up after lunch!!

8. As a vendor on Blue Field North, I would like to thank all the potential customers, the few and the proud, that visited us. Am I really supposed to believe that all those empty spaces in BFN were paid for, and the individuals decided not to come, and just think, I had to buy an extra space to park my truck on. Perhaps, I have now paid my homage to the AACA ( first time vendor) that I may have an opportunity to fill one of the many empty spaces left in the other fields. We even had vendors selling bicycles and motorized carts, those must meet the AACA vendor auto parts rules. Really missed the food vendor that had a better idea, and the weather was great.

19. I recently got some 12 cylinder dual coil caps, (dual ignition six?) , that are packed in cosmoline. Some of the stuff is dried on really hard. Any comments on how to clean the grease off, and what solvent should I use? Most of the oil cloth was torn apart on the caps. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks Dan Marx
20. As a vendor of older parts, auto electrical stuff, it is getting increasingly difficult to sell at a swap meet. The supply of vendors for older parts is drying up, and those needing a set of points or coil or cap for the Marmon, etc, aren't looking for them at the swap meets. The last swap meet I was at, a buyer didn't want the points for $5.00 because he could buy them for $3.00 at the parts store!!! I think he needs to buy all his stuff at the parts store, if they are that cheap!!!!! At the then, ebay/Kruse Aburn show last fall, they even let in a vendor that was selling excavators. Perhaps now that Dean Kruse has it back, it might change (??!!!), but then again that excavator vendor was money coming in the gate!!!! Ebay is convenient for selling parts. Dan
21. I am going to an auction that has about 100 motometers in the collection. I have only seen a couple sell at a swap meet (local events). Have these become primarily collectors items, or is there a need. Many in the collection are branded with the auto makers label. Also, were these factory items, or put on at dealers? Thanks Dan dmarx@voyager.net
22. I have a Packard Carburator-Detroit Lubricator carb that is fair shape. Are parts available to rebuild these older brass carbs? Thanks Dan dmarx@voyager.net
23. THE MOOG # FOR ALL 63-70 BUICK,(EXC SPECIAL AND SKYLARK), UPPER BALL JOINTS, IS K-5182. HOPE THIS HELPS. THE TRW # IS 10202. DAN
24. Just a thought, as a swap meet vendor, I am always providing information about suspension and engine parts. I have regular customers who stop by my vending spaces to look up parts info. I recommend that you get the MOOG or TRW number and use that to shop around. I just got home from a business trip, but contact me this weekend and will give you the MOOG numbers. That way you can shop the swap meets for the part. I will check my stash, might have a set. Also, Rare Parts is probably the most expensive. But then again, they have them. If you can find the early MOOG/TRW ball joints, they will be a good quality part. See some of you at the Buick National. Dan Marx dmarx@voyager.net
