  1. I have purchased many parts from ebay, craigs lists, ROA Review, internet etc .......... most of the time the sellers are very pleasant and willing to send pictures and or answer questions especially when you state that you will have to travel a great distance to view and/or purchase their item. My experience has been that the lower the price of the item the less effort they will place to sell, on the higher priced items they are very cooperative. Sometimes the seller is not well informed about the item and don't want to show their ignorance or are hiding a defect that when discussed will queer the deal. If I find a person unwilling to send info and with an attitude, I have no problem ending my inquiry and continue my search. Paul
  2. I use the circular 7" Buffer with a variable speed with a wool bonnet and I start at a slow speed and increase it as I go and you will see your glass shine. Paul
  3. When I buff my cars with the circular buffer, I merely put some of the 3M polishing compound run the buffer over it and when finished just use any brand of SPRAY GLASS CLEANER and you should be happy. Works for me. Paul
  4. Beautiful car with just enough patina to give it character. As above where is this car currently located? Paul
  5. Thanks for the information. Looks like the vinyl is what I am going to try. If I am satisfied, I will post some pictures. Being a printer, I was able to duplicate on the computer the checkerboard design exactly and it can be printed any two colors with a clear sealer that will give it a gloss shine ...... so here goes. Thanks again, paul Carbon Fiber is readily available an looks quite nice but it does not have the 53 Buick pattern available so it will not look correct.
  6. That's the direction I was headed .... will meet with the vinyl sign guy tomorrow to discuss. Thanks for your responses. I thought maybe someone had reproduced this. Supposedly they use heat for the curves and bends to eliminate the wrinkles. Yours look very good to me. How hard was it to remove the dash, mine is not a frame off, I thought I would be able to install without removing the dash ........ any comments?
  7. I need to locate a source for the Vinyl Material that was used on the lower half of the dash for the 1953 Buick, Skylark & Roadmaster. Please advise me 65skyriv19@att.net by email, by phone 559 431-1520 or PM .... All info will be greatly appreciated.
  8. The system (Hydro-Electric) for the power top and windows recommended Brake Fluid ....... Be very careful because of what it will do to your paint if there is a leak in one of your cylinders so use Silicone brake fluid — DOT 5 — is silicone-based with a high boiling point suitable for motorsports, isn’t sensitive to absorbing moisture and doesn’t damage paint. But it is not compatible with conventional fluids. DO NOT MIX WITH CONVENTIONAL BRAKE FLUID SO YOUR SYSTEM SHOULD BE TOTALLY FLUSHED BEFORE INTRODUCING THE NEW SILCONE DOT 5 FLUID. Please do your own investigation to confirm this info.
  9. I need a good (doesn't need to be perfect) rear bumper guard that goes over the license plate ... mine has good chrome but has a ding. Thanks Paul
  10. My painter lost the "U" that belongs on the trunk spelling out "B U I C K" all the rest are fine. Please advise if you have one. Price including mailing. Thanks Paul. 559 355-3551 or 65skyriv19@att.net or PM or post here. Thanks again.
  11. Maybe someone can make the spacers and offer them for sale so everyone doesn't have to re-invent the wheel. Those would be good to have, just in case, if you don't need them now .... as long as you have the Riv, the day will come. Any takers, I will buy the first set. Paul
  12. Never a problem always prompt in shipping.
  13. I compliment you and your son for taking on the job. The results, though not perfect are much better than many others out there. If you want a concourse car, than spending money and hiring out all the work to be done is one way. I done a 1946 Ford Cpe, a 1954 Buick Skylark with my son. He is now 52 years old and some of the best memories are when we worked on the various components of the cars, the Ford Flat head V/8 was always overheating, the light fuses would go out but we got it done, No replacement interior was produced back then for the 1954 Skylark a local interior shop worked magic, the car was painted in a one-car garage and the alley by a guy we called "Bondo Bob" ........ the paint took a first place at the LA National Show and the paint was mentioned as one of the best in the LA Times (this was Bondo Bobs, first paint job with a paint gun) and again, my son and I rubbed and rubbed and rubbed that paint to a beautiful finish ............ not everyone is trying to have the best of show, we just want to enjoy our car and most of all our family. The way that we are headed, we are pricing the restorations out of the budget of many car enthusiasts. I for one like your interior, just the way it is. With negative comments, we are also keeping new people from buying and restoring an automobile. Good luck Paul
  14. Love the Dual 4-bbl Carter Carburetor, Finned Aluminum Valve Covers w/ "BUICK" on them, and of course the Dual Snorkel Chrome Air Cleaner on the 425 Nail Head Motor............
  15. Like the 1964 and the 1963 would enjoy owning either one ......... as to the RIVISION, I would prefer to have the money invested in it and spend it on another car not quite so modified .... must be my age. Paul
  16. ROA keeps getting better and better ........... yes. Thanks to all involved. Paul Duran
  17. Congratulations ....... I like the Champagne Mist with the Saddle Interior ..... I've had my Grans Sport for about 10 years and get lots of compliments on the color combination. Paul
  18. Ask for pictures, that is an outstanding price. Many time scrap yards are selling straight undented cores ready to be PLATED, make sure you are on the same page. That seems like a core price. Plating is from $425 to $600 as I checked in the last couple of days.
  19. I purchased the car ......... "can't say NO to a Riviera", The engine in it is an LR code which is a 1965 Skylark Gran Sport referred to as a 400 since the gov't didn't want anything larger than a 400 on the small body cars, but the engine is a 401. To my delight, I found that the transmission is out of a 1965 because of the shift pattern and I have the Complete shift assembly for the 1965, now that's something I know about. The car is at the Body/Paint man and the interior is being removed and sent to the upholstery shop to be done, vinyl interior not leather. Engine, Trans and front end rebuilt, good start.
  20. No A/C not sure about windows saw it last over 2years ago and MANY RIVIERAS IN BETWEEN .............. or I may be getting too OLD AND have CRS. (can't remember sh....t")
  21. No, this is from a guy that I met two years ago and purchased some Turbine wheel covers with knockoffs as he had road wheels on the car. Out of the blue he called me and asked if I was interested or knew someone so I checked it out and even though I am not a 1963 fan as I concentrate on 65s when he told me what he wanted and that the engine was a Rebuilt 425 as was the Transmission Rebuilt and he never finished the installation, I couldn't say NO after all it is a BUICK and a RIVIERA which are my weakness. After I get it running, I will have my body/paint guy check it out for a price, I pretty much know what the rest will cost. Not sure where I will end up on this, maybe if too much expense is involved I may pull the Engine and Trans and sell it and part out the rest.
  22. Thanks I appreciate your input. How are your two GS's coming?
