  1. I need a white 1990 Select 60 wheel to replace a damaged one. Only need one but will buy a set if needed. Tom Benvie 5 Sachem Rock Ave East Bridgewater, MA 02333 508 378-1423 tbenvie@comcast.net
  2. I'm from south of Boston but here is some info: "Danvers is located nearly halfway between Boston and the New Hampshire state border. It is bordered by Topsfield to the north, Wenham to the northeast, Beverly to the east, a small portion of Salem to the southeast, Peabody to the south and southwest, and Middleton to the northwest. The town center lies 4 miles north from Salem, 16 miles west of Gloucester, 18 miles northeast of Boston, and 19 miles southeast from the nearest point in New Hampshire. Interstate 95 and Route 128 both pass through the town, just east of their junction in Peabody. U.S. Route 1 also passes through town, with a large junction with Interstate 95 in the northwest end of town. " Though I hope everyone takes advantage of the many historical sites in Mass please be aware that it is one of the most congested places in the country. There will probably be absolutely no parking in Boston itself, especially for more than a car or two. However, there is an excellent transportation system with busses, subway, and trains that can get you anywhere. The Freedom Trail includes a ton of sites from the Colonial times and the Revolution, from the site of the Boston Massacre, Old State House (and newer State House), Old Ironsides, burial grounds, North Church, etc. etc. Faneull Hall is a favorite stopover for the shops and history. Everything is in walking distance. There is also a slew of museums (Museum of Fine Arts and Kennedy Presidential Library to name 2), colleges, attractions. However, again, poor parking. West would be Lexington-Concord battlefield, Olde Sturbridge Village, etc. Again, around an hour but plenty of parking. South of Boston would be over an hour ride, but for those planning to spend some time here be sure to visit Plymouth Plantation and the Mayflower. Right on Plymouth Harbor (and 10 minutes from me) is an authentic village from 1640, complete with period actors, houses, etc. The staff of the plantation act as if it is 1640 with the English language, crafts, dress, etc. Also a day of whale watching for all of you not near the ocean. Further south in southern Rhode Island is Newport, where you will be able to visit some of the most unbelievable mansions anywhere. The oldest car collection in the country is at the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation in Brookline, near the JFK Birthplace. Don't know what the exhibit is this year but they are always great. Salem would be an ideal spot for a drive. (Wiki link: Salem, Massachusetts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) as it is less than 25 minutes, has some large parks, some walking attractions, old waterfront, and a lot of history. The Salem Witch Museum is there but I would recommend reading about it before you visit. A lot of old shops, homes, and attractions. There is a great park there, and the Peabody Essex Museum. For the brave you could arrive early and spend the 4th of July in Boston. The Boston Pops play a free outdoor concert with some of the best fireworks anywhere. However, you have to get there real early or compete with half a million people for a spot. Best of all, the Red Sox will be playing Toronto and Baltimore at Fenway Park, my favorite place. Hopefully they will be in first, way ahead of the damnyankees (damnyankees is one word here, or he-ah if you haven't heard our accent. Translation: Pahk yoa cah heah means "park your car here"). Tickets are sold out in hours, but the resellers often have them and there is no bad seat at Fenway. Plan a week and you will still have plenty left to do, especially if you are a history buff. And if you still want more the American Motors national meet will be in Mass for 2012.

    Lost keys

Does anyone know if you can still go to a Buick dealership with a title/registration and have them look up the keys? i used to buy a lot of Reattas from the Insurance salvage pool and they didn't have keys. the Buick dealer I used is no longer in business so before I travel to a new one i thought I would ask. It is a 90 convert-i know all about locksmiths, just wondered if anyone is still with a dealership thanks
  4. Only one left is the low mileage car. Will sell for $2800-I have more than that in it. Also have 9 Allantes and 8 Reattas for sale

  6. I bought this car back in July and had the suspension damage repaired. It should run and drive at this point. However, I lost storage and injured my knee, and with arthritis slowly taking over (though not slow enough) I am going to have to sell this car and others. I have about $3000 total invested so that is my asking price. I have the hood, fender, door and maybe a bumper as well. I have never seen this car so I can not tell you anything about it. It is still in Indiana. The parts are in Mass. Have others for sale as well: 90 red convert with 90 red parts car. High mileage on convert, 134K on parts car. parts car has sunroof, both have CD. Decent interiors on both. Parts car only needs a fuel pump, so not really a parts car. Other extra parts included. $2500 91 Polo Green coupe, no sunroof but has seats and cd. Mint interior. Green moldings. 130K miles. My daughter got in a minor fender bender and needs bumper replaced (I have one with the car) and some paint work in the rubber filler above the bumper. 11. "Always liked the lines of the first AMXs (before they became a Javelin) but frankly never saw a stock one that would stay with my Judge." I used to teach auto shop back in the 70s and 80s and a student had a Judge-and still has it. One of our state reps had the one of 17 (I think that is the number) Judge converts he used to drive around in. If you want to read some history on fast AMXs, I have been researching the Hurst Super Stock AMXs for almost 30 years and just started a website. Go to the placeholder superstockamx.com and click on the link at the bottom. Ton of info and stuff on the low 10 second wheelstanding cars from 1969-right from the factory. Everyone has heard of the Hemi Dart, so here is the record setting competition!
  12. I've stated before I do 68-70 AMXs, very similar production numbers, etc as the Reatta. 40 years later there is still not a lot of reproduction parts and we have to buy used. We do have some NOS parts because of shoddy pre-computerized parts departments at AMC dealers, something Reattas probably won't have. I look at the reatta database just because it is interesting. I also help find cars for the Allante list, Bricklin list, AMX list and collected info myself in a database for Rambler SCRamblers, Donohue Javelins, Trans Am Javelins and Super Stock AMXs. Privately collecting info on 1998 Collectors Edition Lincoln Mark VIII and 2002 Blackwood pickups. Interesting is the AMC people value the databases and info collected. If someone transposes a number of a VIN you can write a simple Excel program to identify the check digit. If a number is not correct, the check digit will not be correct, so that VIN would be easily discounted.

  19. Here they are, from jan 1990. Does anyone know how they became dealers?
  20. I'll scan them this week. Yes, Atlas is listed-Calif had about 45 dealers, where a half dozen states had none, and some others only one.
  21. How did a dealership become a dealer for the TCs? I saw once only 300 dealers were to be TC dealers. Were the cars all shipped to one place like Calif then sent out to various destinations? How did this work. I bought a bunch of TC literature and found a Dealer Directory dated Jan 1990. Has this been posted anywhere? if not, I can scan it.

    Allante show?

For the last 35 years I have sponsored a New England AMC/AMX car show. Initially we had 150 or so cars, but it is gradually diminishing. The last two years we had about 50. We have a great location with plenty of room. I was wondering if any Allante owners would like to gather in one spot for a show to be held in conjunction with the AMC show? I also own Buick Reatta and Chrysler Maserati TC cars and plan n inviting these clubs, so with the AMX there could be a lot of 2-seaters. The car show is held in East Bridgewater, MA which is just south of Boston. It is the Sunday after Labor Day. Please let me know of any interest.
